“Good value good service along with good food.”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 2 November 2011

After reading some of the previous reviews I have come to the conclusion that we are a nation of nit pickets.
We stayed in room 19 and we found it suited us perfectly. Reasonably clean constant hot water and a working telly.
We found the staff friendly and helpful, we asked for extra pillows and they where produced with a smile, we asked for extra towels and so where they all with a smile.
The food was reasonable the eggs & best rindless back bacon where great.
Hot toast was delivered at the speed of light.
& ok the orange juice was naff but what should you expect for a budget hotel.
If you want to spend £353 a night for perfection go across the road and stay at the big posh place on the top kings cross station Seeing as we where staying 4 nights
I thought it was better to spend £300 at this hotel rather than £1412 across the road.
In short this is a budget hotel providing a fair service at a fair price and I would come back. In fact we have just rebooked for 1 nights stay when we come back from our holiday in the far east so we can relax before our trip back home up north

I was booked into a basic room by my employer for 2 nights. The room was half a cupboard on the 4th floor with only a sink. The shared toilet had been used before whoever was last in it realized that it was broken the other toilet was out of use, the shared shower was disgusting. I paid another £25 to be moved to an en-suite room which turned out to be the room opposite. It was also tiny but clean enough, however there was no water pressure so the shower didn't work. I then discovered the TV also didn't work. It was very noisy from both inside and outside the hotel so not even restful. Breakfast was of a greasy spoon standard with orange squash instead of juice. I didn't bother having any on the 2nd morning.
I would take a cardboard box next time and save the £100 that the 2 nights cost.

Staff were unfriendly, breakfast very poor, although cooked well there was no fruit juice, only one cereal and no vegetarian option. Full English was included in the price and I think the staff thought they were doing guests a favour not a service. Customers were told to get food quickly when arriving at 9.15. Only white medium bread for toasting, 2 slices per person, don't ask for more! Staff were loud, kitchen very noisy. Rooms tidy, very small, no chairs in room. No safety information, where to go if fire alarm sounded etc.

We had basement triple room. With great difficulty somehow managed to carry suitcase through narrow staircase and to add that was sight of cramped room,so also bathroom. One double bed and one single bed occupied the whole room hardly leaving any space to move around. so horrible!! Do not ask about bathroom!!! Room service was ok. Except good location. i.e. St . Pancras International and King's cross stations. Yes, but breakfast was good. It is totally nightmare!!!!! Opt this if you really do not have any choice.

Room Tip: Do not opt for basement room at least! But choose this hotel as your last option.

As I lie here in my extremely cramped bedroom at the European Hotel I am sweating profusely due to the extreme heat in the room. I'm listening to drunken, noisy guests shimmy up the stairs that are directly opposite my door, banging about like they are the percussion section in a rock band. I'm simultaneously hearing a conversation a bloke's having on a mobile phone through the wall and being subjected to someone thumping about in the room above me. I can also hear the street noise humming away outside. Cacophony is the word that springs to mind.

Suffice to say, if you want a quiet, restful night's sleep don't stay here. I'm in a single en-suite. The room is barely 5 feet by 8, packed with a bedside table, single bed, wardrobe and desk! I suspect I might have been accidentally placed in the spare furniture room - there's not enough space to move.

The hall stinks of smoke, nice.

On the plus side, there is decent wifi (as this review attests), the bathroom is clean, despite being split into a shower in one cupboard and a loo in another, and the bedsheets are also clean. The location is very central, a stone's throw away from Kings X, so all in all, it could always be worse!

Worst hotel I've ever stayed in and expensive at 150 pounds per night. We had a basement room which was reached by a narrow musty staircase, difficult to negotiate with heavy suitcases. There were 4 single beds and a small double bed (we were 3) so roomy enough, clean and clean linen and towels. Maybe we paid extra for all the beds! The bathroom was something else - similar to my primary school toilets from the 1960s. Nowhere to hang towels, small grotty shower, basic and icky. On the plus side close to St Pancras for Eurostar (easy walk with cases) and the breakfast was good. There is no in room safe and the security is poor (very light lock on door, we could have climbed out our window easily) so need to carry all valubles with you which was a hassle.
To call this a hotel is an insult to most hotels. More a boarding house. We stayed 2 nights which was depressing. If you are desperate, stay 1 night and leave early for the Eurostar next day. There must be better for the price in London. At most worth 60 pounds per night for 3 people.

Room Tip: I doubt that there is a "good" room at this place.
