The location of this hotel is excellent as it is very near to the finchley road tube station and there is a direct bus to Stanstead Airport just in front of the hotel. Whats more there are ample food joints and a Sainsbury just accross the road. As a priority member (which you can join for free), you are entitled to complimentary newspapers and free wifi (but for only just 1 hour). Breakfast was included as well which was not too bad. The room which we stayed for 2 nights was quiet and clean. There was a sofa bed in the room as well which i assume could fit 2 more small children. Would definitely stay here again on my next visit to London.

I stayed in this hotel for one night on business. Holiday inn expresses are all so familiar - it is comforting, but they tend to merge into each other.

The room is basic, and is as other HIE rooms are - clean and functional, but the bathroom was a bit tired looking. Everything worked, including the internet (which is free as a priority club member). Breakfast was the usual HIE fare and was fine. My room was on the Finchley Road side and was pretty noisy - ask if you cna get a room on the otherside of the hotel if possible.

However, i have to say that the staff were very good - very helpful at the front desk (esp as I had not followed the booking instructions properly), and they found a room for a colleague who had a disaster at another hotel - late at night and at short notice.

So ... hotel much as usual, but staff in my experience, pretty good.

I lodged in holiday inn hotel, on finchley road in London for 2 nights this April and it was quite a good experience.

The hotel is quite clean, the location is excellent, the breakfast is quite good and the service is also quite good.

The room I stayed in was overlooking the Finchley road and the O2 centre, which has quite a good range of facilities. The bed was comfortable and the shower functioned well. As long as you get this hotel at the right price ( as it can be too expensive seasonally) you will always have a good deal.

Room Tip: Always ask for the rooms at the end of the corridor on the right side of the lift.

If you are running the London marathon next year here are my top tips: do at least one 22 mile run in training; carb up beforehand; stay at this Holiday Inn - but book well in advance. I booked in July 2011 for the April 2012 race. Rooms in hotels nearer the start and finish lines were already full or were three times their normal price. But the nice Holiday Inn booking guy on the phone was knowledgable about which tube line to stay near so that I could merely stagger over the finish line, lurch onto a tube and get back to my hotel with minimum fuss (but a note for Holiday Inn management: quit charging premium rates for your telephone booking line). This hotel is moments from Finchley Rd tube on the jubilee line, which leads directly to the DLR for the strt line and from Westminster tube near the finish line. I paid £330 for three night for a family room with hubby and 10 yr old daughter - not awful for the level of comfort and free all-you-can-eat brekky (good for carbing up). Attention to detail could be better on one or two points: the room had not been tidied by 4pm on the Saturday when we got back from the expo and on the Sunday the loo roll wasn't topped up. But otherwise the room was spacious with a sofa which converted to a bed for our daughter and a double bed for us. Holiday Inn have raised their game leading up to their sponsorship of the Olympics and the overall look and feel of rooms and lobbies is modern and fresh. Breakfast choices included juice, tea, coffee, hot choc, eggs, beans, sausages, toast, rolls, pastries, yogurt, cheese, fruit and cereal. Breakfast started an hour early on marathon day. The quality of Holiday Inns is consistent, which is good when traveling with kids. This one is over the road from a shopping centre with several food outlets, and a Sainsburys, which is handy. A great base for a marathon or other London trip. Oh, and my time? 5hrs, 32 mins, 50 seconds.

conveniently located - out o Finchley Road tube station, turn left and its 200m on the opposite side.

Typical Express by Holiday Inn - poor mans Premier Inn

Rooms unadventurous -we had a sofa bed to accommodate two children, and there was paint peeling off the wall and looked as if it had been for a long while. Honest to god, I'd have been embarrassed selling this room - perhaps thats why they didn't mention it.

Anyway, try and avoid room on the front as the Finchley Rd with O2 entertainment complex including Walkabout pub stays open to the early hours, so quite disturbed sleep if you notice it.

Breakfast a fairly hap-hazzard affair with various cold and hot choice, but could do better.

Overall, fine, but suggest a Premier Inn is a better bet - relatives were staying in the Premier Inn Hampstead nearby, and that was a nicer hotel in a better area with a better restaurant and cheaper onsite parking

Room Tip: avoid the front of the hotel as it's prone to being noisy
