“Handy for Lord's”
Reviewed 16 June 2014 via mobile

Stayed here when visiting Lord's cricket ground close enough to walk but the tube is close to. New hotel with a comfy bed. The road outside is very busy so if you need the window open earplugs maybe advisable.

Management has upgraded the amenities here since my last stay a few years ago. While the rooms remain small, internet access is now free, the breakfast options are better, and the hotel offers a happy hour and evening snacks. Staff and management are also much friendlier and more competent than in the past. The tube station is just across the street and allows you to get into central London in 15 minutes. Not cheap, but reasonable by London standards!

Room Tip: Rooms facing the back are much quieter than rooms facing onto Finchley Road.

Room 511 - terrible sleep as the bed was awful and the room really was noisy from the traffic outside. Spent 3 nights for business purposes and all was very convenient but would not stay here for a personal visit - need my zzzzzz's too much!

Room Tip: I guess request the rear of the hotel, away from the road and if you want a double room check it isn...

My family and I stayed here for four nights during the recent May half term. We have one child aged 12 and we loved this place. It is in a great spot, just 10 mins on the tube to most of the main attractions, and it is located in zone 2. Finchley Road tube station is a few minutes walk across the street and Finchley and Frognal train station directly opposite.

The hotel staff were so friendly and welcomed us on our arrival. I requested a room at the rear of the hotel as it is situated on a busy main road. This proved to be a wise decision as it was very noisy at the front. We didn't hear a thing throughout our stay, so definitley request a rear room. The rooms are fab, we had a double bed and a double bed settee for the little one. There are tea & coffee facilities, FSTV, a great shower and toiletries provided. The breakfast was really good too. There was all cereals, full English with bacon one day and sausage the next, beans, scrammbled egg and a toast machine. There was fresh orange and pineapple juices and a fab coffee machine to wake you up!! The hotel was very clean and the staff couldn't do enough for you.

Very enjoyable, we wouldn't hesitate in recommending this hotel at all.

Scott

Room Tip: At the rear of the hotel due to potential road noise.

A quick one night stopover whilst daughter and friends took in One Direction at Wembley Stadium and the wife and I saw a show in the West End.

Staff were very polite and helpful.

Rooms are modern, comfortable, clean, but perhaps a little bit smaller than Premier Inn's. Minor niggle really, as I guess most people will only use their room as a base for exploring London.

Free wi-fi is a bonus, and breakfast is an all you can eat buffet which was fine.

It's easy to find on the main A41 into London, about 3 miles from the end of the M1. Tube station is 100 yards down the road giving you quick access to central London 2/3 stops away. Plenty of restaurants in the immediate area should you not want to remain in central London of an evening.

The bar shut at 11.00pm, which was a shame, and you are best advised to pre-book a parking space (at a further £20 a night), but apart from that would have no hesitation in recommending and will definitely stay here again.

Book as far in advance as you can to get a good price!

Room Tip: Ask for one at rear to avoid noise from busy road out the front.

Good location - Finchley Road tube station is very close (3 minutes' easy walk) to the hotel, and the Jubilee line will bring you quickly to the heart of London. There is a small shopping center right across the street.
Breakfast is an English breakfast, not a lot of choices but they did have Weetabix - what else does an Anglophile need?
Rooms and bathrooms are kept very clean and tidy, comfortable beds (also for the son who slept on the folding couch).
The only problem is the busy street outside. Prepare to be woken up around 7:00 AM or earlier by traffic noise if you are in a street-facing room and aren't a heavy sleeper. For us it was just a nuisance, but were I to visit there again a rear-facing room would be a mandatory requirement.

Room Tip: Back rooms only!

We stayed here for 4 nights in May for a short break and found the hotel to be very clean, the rooms quite big by London standards and the breakfast wasnt bad either.

First of all the position is around 5 minutes walk from Finchley Road Underground Station (turn left out of the station and your there) or 5 minutes from Finchley Road and Frognal Overground (turn right out of the station and your there). So convenient for the Metropolitan and Jubliee lines and within 20-30 minutes your in the heart of London. Opposite is the o2 centre with a range of the usual chain pubs/restaurants. We ate at Zizzis, which was pretty good to be honest and also at the Wetherspoons which was awful and I believe has now shut down - thankfully!

The room was clean, as well as the bathroom. Shower gel and soaps, hairdryer etc were provided. The television had plenty of channels and the in room wifi was free so cant complain about that as well. Most importantly the bed was comfortable and the room was quite. However we asked for a room at the back of the hotel as the front is on the busy main road. Our room was 603, ask for that if you can or any at the back. However there was aircon in the room as well.

Breakfast was the usual buffet style, ran out of eggs one day unfortunately but otherwise everything was topped up quickly and efficiently by the friendly staff.

Checking out was a breeze as well, since we was leaving later in the day they held our cases in a secure room at no extra charge which was a nice touch.

Overall a nice place, book early and its extremely good value at £80 per night for London. Book on the day and it was £225!!!! I certainly wouldnt pay that of course.

Room Tip: Choose a room at the back for a good nights sleep. 603 was our room.
