The food here is good, freshly cooked fish with crispy batter. The service wasn't great, which was surprising as they were quiet. We had 3 fish suppers and a diet coke each - the £51 bill was rather steep though! Eye watering!

stopped here for fish and chips with sister & niece from Australia. They had an authentic fish & chips here with fresh cod, good handcut chips and calamari. Service a bit slow on a busy day but cannot fault the quality of the food - fresh fish, good light batter.

The food is lovely and so fresh, well worth a visit – really nice staff, it’s my Friday lunchtime treat.

We thought we'd try this because I'd passed it a few weeks earlier and it looked like a bona fida fish and chip shop, with a take-away counter and sit-down restaurant. It's in a very touristy area (near St Paul's) which doesn't normally bode well for fish and chips - tourists are often misled into believing they're eating the genuine article, and it can take Londoners some time to find their favourite place.

Arriving early evening, people were milling around the counter area looking confused, and we couldn't work out whether we needed to order at the counter first or seat ourselves at a table. I approached a member of staff who seemed worried about how many of us there were (the restaurant was practically empty). When told we were 2 he said we could sit, and then the other people who'd been looking confused followed us and seated themselves too.

Waiting staff seemed disorganised and nervous, but finally got us a menu. We ordered cod and chips and were told they may not have any, then she said they had 3 left so we'd be OK. The next table were told there wasn't any fish and were asked to consider having ribs or chicken instead. It felt very stressful and we felt sorry for the other group, who were obviously tourists and who were probably already realising they were wasting one of their dining opportunities but were too embarrassed to leave.

When our meals arrived the fish didn't seem like cod - it was very flat and not very flaky. We got the impression we'd been given what they had left, not what we'd ordered. The skin had been removed which may be a plus point for some. The chips were fresh and hot, and not at all bad, although it was a rather small portion for the circa £12 price tag compared to average portions elsewhere. The next table's ribs arrived - they'd been deep-fried and as we left we could see they'd been picked at and left on the side.

The menu says that alcohol will be available soon, but at the moment there are only soft drinks. So perhaps this is a fairly new place, and perhaps it's aimed at a lunchtime trade, in which case I'm giving it 2 stars instead of the 1 I would have given if it had been an established place. But I won't be back to try it again because London has so many other good places, and it's not worth the stress of the lack of customer interaction/information, and the lack of menu items. If they're not really open they should say so in advance, not attract a captive audience and then take advantage of them.
