I booked afternoon tea in the Oscar restaurant as a joint treat for mother's day / my dad's birthday. We arrived half an hour early, and unsurprisingly our table was not yet ready, however, they offered for us to wait in the lounge area. They then said that if we'd prefer, they could make a table up for us in the lounge and we could eat our afternoon tea in there. After seeing how busy and loud the main Oscar restaurant was, sitting in the secluded lounge was a lovely option. We had two large sofas and plenty of armchairs between only four of us.
The staff were very polite and attentive but without fussing too much. The drinks, sandwiches and scones are unlimited, meaning even the hungriest of men (my dad and brother) were satisfied. The waiter even offered to box up our leftovers for us to take away without us asking.
It was my first time having afternoon tea, but it was a truly lovely experience and I can't wait to find an excuse to go back. We spent the rest of the afternoon walking off the cakes and exclaiming about what a nice time we'd had.More
