We spent two nights at this lovely hotel as part of a family of six in London to celebrate our daughters wedding at a venue nearby. Check in and service were excellent, pleasant and efficient at all times. Rooms, although a little on the small side, were quirkily and beautifully furnished. Bathrooms were well equipped , but watch out for VERY hot water from the hot taps. Toiletries were by Rik Rak and there were complimentary Templetree Spa bath/massage oils and pillow sprays. Breakfasts were delicious with a wide range of options. On the ground floor there are rooms furnished as a library and a drawing room, giving opportunities for reading complimentary newspapers or just chilling. Staff gave the impression that nothing was too much trouble. Room service was prompt. The location is perfect, with museums, galleries and Oxford Street within walking distance. There are numerous good restaurants dotted round the nearby street. Overall, a very good experience and good value for money.

Visited on a quiet Sunday about midday for the most fantastic cream tea. Service was quick and attentive, food was obviously fresh and home baked and selection was varied and tasty.

I loved every single minute and very reasonably priced! I would go back in a flash. Lovely way to end a lovely bird at weekend. Thank you!

Top notch all the way here. From the careful and attentive reservations for spa, tea and movie screening, Hilde was superb. Once at the hotel, the special touches of a surprise birthday cupcake and hand written notes with turn down service were truly appreciated. Bed was dreamy, as was the TV facing the very large bathing tub. We will look forward to many more Firmdale visits

We are big fans of the Firmdale hotel group and this one remains our favourite as it has a particularly home from home feel. Like the others, Charlotte Street is laid back, friendly and well run, you know you can depend upon it for a stylish, comfortable, personalised experience yet there is always a new surprise from the lovely, individually designed rooms. Bedrooms and public rooms all benefit from Kit Kemps distinctive style and attention to detail, her bold but homely fabrics and papers and keen eye for art. Rooms whilst always pretty can be small so upgrade if you can, our junior suite offered much more spreading out space. The casual in-house restaurant, open to the public, rocks day and night. It is fun, chaotic and undemanding with well priced, decent, unpretentious food. What I like most about the hotel is the charming, cosy guest areas where you can loll for hours around the fireplace enjoying a tipple from the honesty bar. The neighbourhood is ideal for shops, theatre and an array of great bars and restaurants (Roka, Fino, Dabbous, and Pied a` terre are all within a skip and a jump). Staff are super friendly, helpful and seem happy to be there. Fab all round.

The hotel was tucked away in a wonderful area in central London, close to many good restaurants as well as many places to visit well within walking distance. Its own restaurant draws quite a crowd of well-heeled customers, so it was terrific from a people-watching perspective as well as being a comfortable and easy place to stay in this busy city. By no means is it inexpensive, but the service (anything from booking tickets to hailing taxis) was well worth the price of a room here.

My travel agent recommended this property and had several clients with positive reports. You will need to know the following upon booking if your personal tastes are similar.

The room I was given had loud pink and green wallpaper, a lady mannequin in the corner whose purpose baffled me, and a large "mod" chair that took up too much space. This was not a room for repose, but may appeal to some.

The room was on the fourth floor with dormer windows. That was fine except that the block out drapes did not close sufficiently in the dormers and I had sun directly in my eyes on four mornings. Very unpleasant.

For my comfort, the bedding was too soft; the pillows were flat and very soft not enough to support my neck. I ended up putting a pillow case around one of the decorative pillows for support. I think this caused my backache. Linens were excellent.

Otherwise, the bath is nicely outfitted and the towels are large, new and fluffy, and there are towel warmers unnecessary for July, but they were hot 24/7 nonetheless.

Hotel services were fine and extremely accommodating. Two snafus; one with flight check-in, reception entered the wrong passport expiration so I was locked out from getting my boarding pass; second was with airport transfer. I prepaid airport transfer with 10% hotel surcharge, and then the driver had the taxi meter running on the way to the airport. This was a lack of proper communication somewhere along the channels.

Restaurant services are perfect; breakfast in the dining room was perfect every morning, efficient service, generous selection, delicious.

The hotel's location is terrific. There are numerous popular pubs and restaurants of every food type within the block. It is a trendy, fun block and it is a great spot if you can manage a sidewalk table for people watching.

The Goodge Street underground is nearby for the Northern Line so quick and easy access for getting around London is a true benefit.

While I would choose another hotel on my next visit because of personal taste, I recommend the hotel to anyone looking for something outside the standard.
