Description: Wahaca St. Paul's, up on the first floor of One New Change, is the perfect stop-off for a Mexican street food hit in the heart of The City. With huge murals from Mexican street art duo Fabian & Cawamo and a wood panel installation filling the space with its own Mexican sunshine, it transports you directly to Mexico City's Zócalo square.

First time here recently. The staff were really helpful in understanding the menu and added to to the chilled atmosphere there. We got a range of market food and sides, and couldn't say there was a disappointment. Chorizo and Potato quesadilla was the stand out dish. Will try the burrito next time.

Wonderful, authentic Mexican food, served in informal atmosphere, with excellent service. Very reasonably priced, considering you're in the heart of London City. Place was full but we got a table after a 15 minute wait. Really buzzing atmosphere.

We've been wanting to try Wahaca for dinner for ages (enjoyed breakfast before) and finally got round to visiting this week when we went to the restaurant in One New Change, one of a number in the chain.

It was a very quiet Sunday night after Christmas and at 8.30pm there was only 4 or 5 tables being used. Loved the restaurant layout but sadly on this night it lacked any atmosphere. Service was attentive (obviously) but sadly underwhelming, it felt like we were intruding on a restaurant winding down even though there was still two hours of service left.

Food was nice enough but overpriced. £3.10 for four small chunks of sweet potato as a side summed it up really. We were in the restaurant all of 40 minutes and managed to spend £42. I like the street food concept but street food in my opinion is plentiful and cheap, this experience was completely the opposite.

Overall we left disappointed and probably won't return in the future.

My wife and I would be the first to admit that Mexican food is not, for us, an everyday experience. We visited Wahaca with our son and 6 year old grand daughter when we met up in London. It was great, good service, interesting food and value for money. The restaurant, location and food was what was needed that day. The problem with reviewing restaurants on TA is that they all differ in terms of quality, service, ambiance and price. It is, I feel, impossible to compare Wahaca with say La Gavroche other that by asking the question, was it right for the occasion and did it deliver what was promised. Wahaca did and no doubt we will take our grand daughter again and if in the future she is very good we will take her to La Gavroche.
