“Good Pub Hotel (but noisy corner)”
Reviewed 20 September 2011

Stayed one night on business as a fall back after first choice was full. Nice pub with friendly staff and rooms were decently kitted out . Reasonable room rate and hearty breakfast available if thats your thing (but not before 0700 ) no chance of morning call before 0645 which rather limits early starters. Car parking only 4 spaces so not much use leading to street parking gamble whic I lost. No fun dragging cases half a mile.
All pretty good really unless you get a front facing room . THis hotel is located right on a very busy intersection and the traffic never let up all night. So book it by all means but make sure you ask for a rear facing room....otherwise you won't sleep because the double glazing just isn't up to the task.

Room Tip: ask for one not facing the street

Check in was good, staff friendly - room ready (requested an early check-in).
Parking is available if required, we caught the train from Waterloo to Wandsworth Town, then a five min walk.
Had requested a room away from noise - the room we had was right on the main road, but there was good secondary glazing, which kept out alot of the traffic noise.

The room (101) was a decent size, as you would expect from an older building - with good facilites (air con / trouser press / flat screen TV / refreshment tray / hairdrier / toiletries). Bed was comfy & clean, pleanty of hanging space in the wardrobe.

Bathroom was a good size, Loo, sink & inside the bath were reasonabley clean.
Shower over the bath - no shower curtain (curtain rings but no curtain); the grouting around the tiles could have done with a scrub; the hair should have been removed form the bath plug hole; the woodwork around the bath needed repair & a paint.

Had a meal in the bar/restaurant downstairs - very nice & reasonably priced, staff well mannered.
The restaurant & bar areas were very nicely laid out, relaxed; spacious & comfy
Reception booked us a cab, with-out hesitation.

During the night I would have prefered a quieter room, as I am a light sleeper. So sleep wasn't that good.

Good selection of cooked breakfast(s), very tasty. Table were all clean.

Quick & easy check out
Good place to stay

We stayed at the Brewers Inn on a Saturday night as we had a family wedding locally. We had arranged to take ownership of the room early prior to our arrival but the staff didn't seem aware of this. However, the room was available. We had paid for a superior double and it certainly was a good size; king size bed, large bathroom, sofa, chair, table, desk etc. A TV and kettle supplied with plenty of UHT milk and lovely toiletries in the bathroom. There was an airconditioner but as the night wore on it was apparant that it was frankly old and pretty useless; even on powerful you couldn't feel the air movement. I have very mixed feelings of the Brewers Inn mainly because the staff on the Saturday were completely different to the staff on the Sunday morning; like night and day. The staff on arrival and at lunch were mostly perfunctory, polite but not overly welcoming if I am honest, and the staff on the Sunday morning were cheerful, helpful, kind and very accommodating. Lunch on the Saturday was adequate - fish and chips (pretty small portion) and I had salade nicoise which tasted nice however no tuna (admittedly it didn't specifically state tuna on the menu but as the main ingredient in a usual salade nicoise I was suprised it wasn't there) - when brought it to the attention of the waitress she had no comment to make whatsoever.. literally. The night was very warm and humid and it was unpleasantly hot in the room until we discovered that we could open one small window about 4". Breakfast was a completely different kettle of fish... welcoming and friendly. Cereals and toast and a selection of full English; eggs benedict with bacon; kippers or scrambled egg and smoked salmon. Cooked very well. Overall the experience was not bad, the pub/hotel has a tired air and could do with a lick of paint everywhere but we would stay there again and just hope to catch the Sunday staff on the next visit!

We choose this hotel based on reviews in tripadvisor and it was a excellent choice. The rooms are big enough (for London). Personnel is very friendly (arrived after midnight and somebody waited for us). But the best is the breakfast and the pub.
Price-performance is very good too!

Nice old-fashioned London pub, great pub grub and a better-than-decent house wine (room service). Service excellent throughout, rooms decent-sized, comfortable and well-equipped. Service truly excellent. Beefs: couldn't get the wifi to work, three flights of narrow and rather shabby stairs (no lift) but the place was very convenient for my business appointment the following morning.

When I walked into the pub I thought it was lovely - great atmosphere. The staff however were rude and exceptionally unhelpful. I was put in a very sad, small and dirty single room on the very top floor. Ladden with bags I was simply pointed in the direction of the stairs - very narrow and not easy to climb with a load of luggage. Not worth the money - I'll know for next time!!

For the average price of hotels in London, Brewer s Inn room s are quite nicer than the other at the same price, and the day rate includes a very nice breakfast.
