Though I've seen gigs from The Union on tv this was my first visit.
A perfect venue for Penguin Cafe.
A wonderful evening!
Thank you.

Saw a charity comedy event here in February, was expecting it to be cold and a bit uncomfortable but it was great!

There was even a tea shop to get hot chocolates/teas and coffees which you could drink in the chapel. There was a bar attached but alcoholic drinks are not allowed in the chapel so keep an eye on the time (and select your size of drink wisely) in the interval so you have time to finish it.

There are electric heaters dotted around the chapel blasting out heat, so was particularly warm. People were respectful of the 'leave your coat on the pew whilst you get a drink'. After a while the seats can pretty uncomfortable (they are wood pews after all!) so be mindful of this.

We planned to get there early, there was a long wait in the queue outside but worth it for a semi-decent seat.

The venue itself is stunning and perfect for acoustic or intimate concerts. Have seen quite a few artists there and have enjoyed each one. Have been able to park fairly nearby each time.

The downsides are that seating can't be reserved so for popular concerts you'll need to get there early, and that the sounds upstairs isn't as clear as downstairs. (Also, as the pews are pretty unforgiving, take a cushion!!!)

I was pleasantly surprised by how beautiful and stunning this building is. My husband had wanted to go after hearing some fantastic reviews about the venue. As we both love comedy we chose to go to that type of event. After hearing an acoustic band play before and after the show I would definitely return for a future gig. As for sitting in the pews. I was slightly dreading this part but the seating situation was fine and had no bearing on my experience. For those who love comedy and music in a unique venue this is a must.
