“nice place to stay in the heart of london”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 26 December 2013

The room was quite small as I expected for a hotel in europe. However, it is nice and clean so there are no complaints in that regards. The location of this hotel is great..near many tourist attractions. the london tower and tower bridge are 10 minute walk. for westminster abbey and big ben, you can just jump on the tube which is right near the hotel. Also, the staff is very friendly which makes for a pleasant stay. They are also helpful when it comes to planning your day in london. overall, customer service is excellent. I would definitely recommend the ibis london city to my friends and fam...

We could hardly sleep with the noise of the traffic, and the windows are designed so that you can hardly open them (not that you would want to!), the rooms are quite dark during the day. Breakfast not bad, useful for an inexpensive sleepover but quite anonymous and grey as are most hotels.

The Ibis London City offers an excellent price/quality ratio for a London hotel in the city center.
It’s located next to the famous Brick Lane and Spitalfields Market which is the place to be if you love Indian/Bengali food.
This hotel is very well located to explore this very interesting part of London so perfect for people who’ve been to London already for a few times.
However, there’s a tube station next to the hotel so the city center is easy reachable as well.
The rooms are according to the Ibis standard so no surprises here. It offers everything you need for a few nights.
Breakfasts can be quite busy as it’s a popular hotel. There are plenty of seats but I would recommend the management to install a few extra coffee makers as the current one is way too slow for the crowd who need a coffee to start the day.

Stayed here for two nights. It's a great city hotel. Really close to subway station Aldegate East.
Clean, good beds. The room is a bit small, but enough for a citytrip.

Price-Quality-Location = Perfect!

We recently stayed here on a Saturday night. It's a good, basic hotel, with one big plus for us - a very good buffet style (all you can eat) breakfast. The room was functional - clean and modern but with no smart furnishings of the kind you might find in more expensive hotels. Reasonably comfortable beds, and good bathroom - very clean, if a little bit stark. So far, so OK. But the breakfast was very good. Lots of choice of cereals, fruitjuices, fresh fruit, bread, rolls, croissants, teas, coffees and so on. The cooked breakfast however was the clincher. It was very good and just what we wanted on the Sunday morning. Bacon, sausages, baked beans and scrambled eggs. All nicely presented with the whole breakfast area kept very clean by the staff who were working under lots of pressure because the big dining room was extremely busy. Other guests seemed to be mainly tourists who were getting themselves well and truly fed before obviously then heading off to see the sights and sounds of London (or perhaps returning home). The hotel itself is not in the most scenic part of London but it's nevertheless close to lots of places of interest in the City and the central part of London - and the shops and other attractions of Covent Garden, the West End and slightly beyond that are all within easy reach by bus or the Tube. So you have a good location in central London (ideal for what we wanted), a pleasant enough room to stay in, a good night's sleep ahead of you and a great breakfast (sorry to mention it again!) to look forward to. Also, reasonably friendly and helpful staff. And all of this for a very reasonable price, made even better - if you can - by booking and paying in advance (a special offer that is always worth looking out for at any hotel as it can save quite a bit of money). We like this hotel. It gets 5 stars not because of its facilities (they are limited) but because it is very good value. It's not plush, for example there is no great lounge area on the ground floor with expensive leather chairs and no great furnishings in the rooms (a few extra tea bags would be nice however!) but if you are not planning to be in your hotel bedroom for very long and you accept its limitations, it's well worth thinking about. We'll be staying again - unless we find it's fully booked because of justifiably good reviews of it like this one!

Room Tip: A higher floor might be a good idea if you want to have your windows open and you don't want to...

I was impressed with the standard of the rooms and the hotel in general after a recent business trip. It offers good value. The rooms are clean and basic giving you everything you need. Free wifi is a plus. It is close to Aldgate East and Aldgate Tube stations.
I didn't eat in the restaurant but the breakfast buffet was ok.

Room Tip: Rooms that face the courtyard at the rear of the hotel seem to be quieter.

Not luxury but a good standard at reasonable rates in the heart of the City. It is in close proximity to public transportation and also has good restaurant and bar. I recommend all business travelers as well as tourists
