“Sorry I only got to stay 1 night”
Reviewed 1 June 2012

Was booked here by my travel agent because it was one of my firm's "preferred" hotels and I was trying to find something not over-priced. What a great surprise.

Good location a few steps away from Buckingham Palace. I walked to all my busines meetings.

The staff was so friendly they nearly swarmed my taxi to take my luggage and get me checked in. They upgraded my room to a one bedroom suite that seemed more of a serviced apartment. There was even a clothes washer/dryer in the large, FULL and fully equipped kitchen.

Modern, clean space. Two closets. Big comfy bed. Very nice, large bathroom. Sort of a dull little living room, but hey, I wasn't expecting a living room in the first place.

Breakfast was included. This was a full English breakfast served in a cozy "library" type room.

The hotel is arranged around a courtyard, back behind the Crown Plaza hotel.

My partner was staying here on business and I joined him for the weekend. We had a one bedroom suite and it was amazing. Everything about it was 1st class. Highly recommend.

We arrived at hotel v early -we were taken to the library to check-in & treated to coffee & croissants -we then went out for the day & returned to a lovely suite which was a bargain as we had booked via an Internet offer. All staff were v polite and courteous at all times . The only problem was , we couldn't stay longer. Will definitely return, a great hotel

My husband and I have lived in London for several years, and so I was surprised to have never heard of this place. We decided to spend our one year wedding anniversary here and we could not have been more pleased with the overall experience! We were graciously upgraded to a beautiful suite and the staff were truly exceptional, exhibiting a graciousness and a skill to make each and every guest feel like a VIP. We had a beautiful afternoon tea at the library and were shown to our 2 bedroom, 2.5 bathroom room with flair and attentiveness by our very own butler. What an incredible treat and a pleasant surprise. I agree with some readers here on TA with the urge to keep this place a secret, but the obligation to reward this perfect tucked-away hotel, and wonderful staff with discerning guests/business. We have said we will spend every forthcoming anniversary at this place as long as we live in London and we can't recommend this property highly enough. I will seek out other Taj properties in the future.

We got off to a bad start but finished nicely here. When we arrived, someone else was checking in at the registrar's desk. We would have been happy to wait our turn, but the butler did not want us to be inconvenienced, so we were ushered into the Library and he brought us our paperwork to sign in a very rushed manner. He was unable to confirm our dates of stay and the rate because the registrar was using the computer. He suggested that he show us to our room and that we could confirm those details later. On my third try later that day (there was always someone with the one and only registrar), I discovered that they only had us staying for two nights instead of three and that the rate was incorrect. They promptly and courteously corrected it.

That first night we stayed in a large but quite basic one bedroom suite with a truly awful bed that we didn't discover until bedtime. In the morning we complained and were moved to a deluxe one bedroom suite with a much nicer bed and, as it turns out, more modern and luxurious bathroom amenities (spa tub, walk in shower, double sinks - -although oddly, no electrical outlets). Both rooms had a fully stocked kitchen, washer/dryer, Nespresso machine, tea kettle etc.. The second room had more space, nicer furnishings and an additional half bath. Wi-fi in the second room did not work but they installed a separate hot spot which fixed the problem. Breakfast, served in the Library or in your room, was delicious. There is construction going on at the hotel, although we were not bothered by the noise.

As you can see, we did have problems but the very accommodating staff could not have been nicer and addressed our every need efficiently and graciously. I would definitely stay here again. My rating above is for the second room. I would have rated the first room much lower - - 2 or maybe 3 stars.

Room Tip: Make sure you get a room that has been renovated.

From the moment we were warmly greeted by the valet, concierge and check-in staff our stay was exquisite. We were upgraded to a recently refurbished one-bedroomed suite. It was extremely spacious with every possible accoutrement we could need - and more.... From the flat- screen TV in the bathroom, to the huge dressing area, sumptuously-adorned super-king-sized bed - it was simply divine in every way. We also enjoyed the generous complimentary drinks and delicious canapés served in The Library from 6.30pm - a perfect start to our evenings. And the knowledgeable concierge also helped us to make the most of our stay with restaurant recommendations and travel tips. We cannot wait to return!

The rooms were well - appointed, sized and furnished. The location is very convenient to sites, the tube, good restaurants and parks (excellent running in the city). The staff were attentive and very helpful. The TV units were a bit of a problem (our DVD had to be reconnected, set up and the monitors were small), but we spent little time in our room. Our unit was close to the street, so noise at night and early was a bit of a problem.
