“Best of London from SecretEscapes!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 25 February 2013

Location is excellent: close to London Tower, Tower Bridge, 20 minutes from St Paul Cathedral, 40 minutes walk from Trafalgar Sqare, Westminster Abbey and Big Ben, a lot of shopping, plenty of restaurants, staff is outstanding: friendly, knowledgable, international and young. The hotel restaurant provides excellent breakfast (you lucky if it will be included in your price as we were), we also had dinner first night and lunch next day: food and service were excellent. Elemis products were a nice surprise in bathroom (if you don't know what it is-it is worth to discover from your stay) since those products usually are very expensive and you cannot get them from any store but cruise lines only. Denis was the best doorman and Ricardo was very helpful with finding opening hours for museums and tickets for show, Alina and Angela were the best waitresses in the Addenum restaurant. Room was dustless! You could make your own tea in the room and it also has a little fridge. You could check-in as early as 2pm and check out no later than 2pm and it was very convenient! Good luck for staying in Apex!

I booked this hotel through "Secret Escapes" and was glad to do so as this gave me a substantial discount on the rack price.

Good points:

- excellent location, very close to Tower Hill station and away from the busy West End.
- outstanding staff who were both friendly and efficient. We had a couple of minor issues which were dealt with extremely well.
- the hotel sparkles, it was extremely clean (even in the hidden corners!)
- our room was well-equipped, the bed was comfortable, the free toiletries and items on the welcome trays were most welcome.
- lovely deep bath and good shower, plenty of towels and bathrobes.
- breakfast (we only had Continental) was one of the best we have had anywhere, with a wide selection of breads, Viennoiserie, cheeses, meats and more. The cooked dishes looked good and didn't appear to be of the "wilting kept-warm-in-a-buffet" style!
- luggage was kept for us on our last day before we went to catch our train.

Less good:

- we were upgraded to a large room on the top floor. But on a cold weekend the heating simply couldn't cope and we were decidedly chilly, especially in the bathroom. We were surprised that the bathroom did not have underfloor heating. An electric heater was brought on request but it wasn't quite the same (and obviously couldn't be used in the bathroom).
- there is a building site next to the hotel. Clearly this isn't the hotel's fault but the noisy demolition machinery ran from 8 am - 5.45 pm (and even started up on the Saturday before we left). This wasn't a problem for us but it would have spoiled a stay for guests seeking peace and quiet.

Would we stay here again? Yes (and at other hotels in the same group).

The Apex is a wonderful hotel that was in the perfect location for me while on a Business trip in London. This was only my second time in London, so I cannot compare to other hotels but the next time I visit whether for Business or Personal I'm going back to the Apex! The staff was very friendly and helpful and the rooms were clean and well maintained everyday. Good value for the rooms, I was able to get a corporate rate so I cannot comment on standard rate but I don't think it was too much different. Very close to the Tower Hill Tube stop which brings you to all major stops in London. Quiet area with plenty of Pubs and resturants nearby. Tower of London is a short 2 minute walk as well. Great stay all around. Thank you Apex!

We have stayed a few times at the various Apex Hotels in London and are always extremely happy with our stay. Room very clean and spacious. Fantastic deep bath, duck and lovely Elemis toiletries in the bathroom. I had requested non allergenic bedding as my husband has an allergy to feathers. This was no problem at all.

We had room service which was good value for money and delivered on time with a smile. Only one gripe was the size of the King Prawns in my curry, definitely not as described in the menu.

There was only one thing which could possibly be an issue but had absolutely nothing to do with the hotel. The room which we had been allocated was adjacent to St Olaves and it would appear that Thursday night is their campanology practice night . If you were going out there would be no issue.

Our stay was on a B+B basis, we had continental breakfast in the morning which was very nice and set us up for the day.

We will definitely be returning.

We booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package for a very competitive price. Upon check-in we were delighted to have received an upgrade to a deluxe room with a roof terrace which was absolutely amazing. You could stand outside and be virtually face to face with the Gherkin and other iconic buildings.

The room was very modern, clean and had many little extras, like magazines, free snacks and drinks, a bathrobe and slippers. The heating and all electric gadgets worked very well and you could borrow free DVD's.

The dinner was very nice and even came with a free glass of wine. The waitress was very genuine and friendly. The breakfast was sumptuous and very fresh. In addition to the lovely breakfast buffet, you could also order anything from the menu. The service was excellent.

The staff was very friendly and made you feel very comfortable. Upon checkout we were given very useful advice regarding the tube not running to the West End. We were advised to use the No 15 bus which was just around the corner.

We can't wait to visit this amazing hotel again!

Although the hotel is located away from view of high traffic areas, it is strategically located to get to any location with walking distance in the core of London.
Very clean, staff very courtious, modern.

Room Tip: rooms away from elevators.
