“Very nice accessible hotel”
Reviewed 18 February 2014 via mobile

Very nice hotel with great access to transport and visitor attractions.
Reception at the hotel was very welcoming.
The room (std guest) was clean and tidy, the lighting however was not great and it seemed very dark in our room even with all on the lights on, but who goes to London to sit in their room??

The desk was large enough to spread some work that I had taken with me which is sometimes an issue with hotels.

Over all a good visit

My wife and I stayed for one night, mid week. There was a small problem with fan noise in the room due to the air conditioning and when we checked out I mentioned this. The response of the front desk was amazing. I have never known such attentive and concerned management and this hotel's customer care cannot be faulted.

* Please note that I would have given the hotel a 4.5 star rating if possible due to the bed, but decided to round up in stars instead of down because the overall experience was really positive. *

After a 10 hour flight, a long tube ride, and then dragging our heavy suitcases up the stairs from the Tower Hill Underground station, my hubby and I were pretty exhausted; so we were pretty happy that it only ended up being a 0.1 mile walk to our hotel. The gentleman who checked us in was friendly and efficient. (I think his name was Mark)

I didn't have a chance to explore the hotel grounds beyond the lobby, but what I saw was aesthetically pleasing, tidy, and modern. We were given a room off the 4th floor with windows facing the front of the street, which had an old church and office buildings further back. Although the room was small, it did not feel cramped. Honestly I was expecting something comically tight since I kept reading about hotel rooms in Europe being itty bitty, so I was pleasantly surprised. The bathroom was definitely spacious and was almost the size of the small sleeping area. I loved that the tub and the shower were separate, and that there was a roomy shelf to put all your toiletries.

If you didn't bring a hair dryer, they provide one, but I found it in the closet rather than in the bathroom. the electric kettle and coffee/tea supply was in the closet as well with the mini fridge. An ironing board and iron were also provided, which I didn't think the hotel would carry. I really liked that they didn't stock munchies/drinks you could purchase at an outrageous price in your room. Everything they did provide was free: bottle of flat water, bottle of mineral water, coffee, tea, hot cocoa, and cookies or biscuits to go with the drink. There was a restaurant and bar right in the lobby if you wanted something more substantial, and a ton of eateries and a Starbucks nearby. (I recommend their local chain called Wagamama if you're looking for a casual place to grab a bite. It's one block over and across the main cross street.)

One thing I especially liked about the room was that there were PLENTY of available electrical outlets to plug in our plethora of electronic devices. The desk had a huge power strip built in right on top, so you didn't have to go poking around under the desk.

It was great having a king sized bed like we have at home, but the only thing I'd knock a half star off for was that it wasn't the comfiest bed. The mattress could have benefited from being flipped over. That being said, it wasn't uncomfortable enough to keep us up at night.

We overall had a fantastic stay, and the Apex City of London was amazingly situated in the heart of London.

Other tips:
If you do end up using the hotel, here's the self-guided walking tour I used that was perfect for that specific area: http://www.walklondon.com/london-walks/pool-of-london-walk.htm
I also highly recommend using the City Mapper app on your smart phone to get around easily. We never had to ask for directions thanks to it!

The Apex City of London Hotel has once again made our weekend in London most pleasurable. We first stayed there about 15 months ago on the recommendation of a friend who uses the hotels in the Apex group regularly. We were very impressed then which prompted us to book again this year.
It ticks all the boxes in terms of the room and amenities for us as a family and is in a fantastic location for some of London's top attractions such as the Tower of London. The communication links are fantastic, with tube, bus and ferry only minutes away. The bus route, No 15, is also a night bus route, fantastic if you want to spend time in the West End, as we did on this occasion and runs right through to Trafalgar Square.
We stayed on a B&B basis and the breakfast was lovely, covering both continental and cooked breakfast. The Braveheart breakfast is particularly good and has a bit of a Scottish twist to it, namely haggis, which I thoroughly enjoyed.
The staff were very friendly and attentive without being overboard as you can find in some establishments.
All in all a delight and would recommend to anyone.

Have stayed here before and have always been happy. Stayed here for weekend in February and was still very happy with all aspects of this hotel. Very good check in with staff welcoming us back. Professional service and clean spacious room with very comfortable bed. Will stay here again

Room Tip: Basement rooms are good if you are an insomniac!

Searching for a romantic getaway to London, we found this hotel: great reviews and value for money, compared to other city central hotels.

We arrived early wanting to drop off our bags; to our surprise a ro was available. The check-in was quick and we were given an option for discounted breakfast as this is something we didn't opt in for on booking.

Located on the 2nd floor, our standard room was far from standard. A large bedroom with a super-size tv; queen size bed and a bathroom with both walk in shower and bath tub. For me, being a skin care snob, the complimentary elemis products and quirky yellow ducky were lovely touches!

We have to say the only negative to the room was the shower. Two things: the water supply seemed to be different to the taps as the hot water was more tepid than steaming hot and the size, was more like a hand held shower than an enormous over head which you would expect given the size of the walk in: shame!

In the evening, we had two cocktails in the bar. The selection is vast and the service is great. We were given bar snacks complimentary to our drinks and the bar staff were very welcoming and smiley!

To finish, our nights sleep was sound and the bed was ultra comfy. Also, as we left a porter asked if we'd like our bags to be held so we could sight see (he'd read our mind as we were going to ask this at reception.)

The staff and service made the stay a happy one and we would most definitely return.

Came for a valentines weekend. The weather disapointed but the hotel didnt! Comfy bed, warm rooms nice staff great in hotel food. The showers also were perfect for washing off london underground filth. Ohh and not to mention the free duck! This is the second time weve been to apex and just as good as the first time. Recomended!
