“Basic but affordable”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 12 December 2013

The location of this hotel is very central ( as a hostel ) and is easily accesible both by the tube and by the bus (Closest Tube Queensway or Lancaster Gate). It is very basic with no riches as is expected of a hostel. The bathroom doesn't have any bath mats, and it's 5 pounds to rent a towel, so it might be best to bring a spare one before coming. It's breakfast is pretty basic, with toast and butter, and Kellogs and Milk and water as a drink. It isn't the best hostel I've been too, but compared to some hotel prices in London, I'd recommend a stay here.

Room Tip: Rooms on the left of the building were a bit noisy from the outside so try to go for a room a bit mo...

We visited this hotel for 3 nights.
The location is excellent, accessible easily by foot from Bayswater and Paddington station.

The rooms are tiny, however they are clean and reasonable value for money.

If you want to see London and only need a bed an a light breakfast then this is for you.

We stayed in one of the private double rooms just for one night while passing through London. The location was excellent (an easy walk to Paddington Station, Hyde Park and the Victoria and Albert Museum). The staff were friendly and checked us in quickly. The room was nicely and newly decorated and very clean, neat and tidy. The bathroom was also very nice. Certainly breakfast was nothing spectacular, but some cornflakes, a few pieces of toast and a cup of tea is absolutely adequate to start the day. We were very happy with the experience and would recommend it to our friends.

I stayed here for 10 days:

1. Perfect Location: best thing about this hostel/hotel is its location being very near to the Paddington tube/railway station and bayswater tube station, very silent and peaceful neighbourhood and all general need shops at walkable distance.

2. Value for money: The tariff is inclusive of a complementary breakfast and very well kept rooms. The prices can be seen on the site but this is the best one can get in this part of London, since I did a lot of research on hotels before my trip.

3. Reasonable Rooms: the rooms are small with a small attached washroom and not so spacy bed. But for travellers it serves fine as the only part of your day you spend here is your sleep time.

#Highly recommended

I stayed here with my girlfriend in a double bed room. The bed was ok but the room was very stuffy and warm. Terrible if your there in summer. Our toilet barely flushed and required multiple attempts every time to flush it. This was also common with other guest we discovered. Our toilet also leaked water.

You can only get wifi downstairs in the common room which is also packed full of people almost all the time. There are no kitchen facilities also which is annoying.

The good points is that it was close to hydepark and many restaurants and subway stations. So for location it was good.

Overall the price you pay to stay here is really not worth it. Look elsewhere, there are better hostels then this in London.

Hi Big_Kahuna2013,

We are really sorry you didn't enjoy your stay with us. All technical problems are fixed right after we learn that they occurred so you should have contact the receptionist and this problem would be resolved promptly. About the heat in the room- we are also sorry, as we didn't expect a heat wave in London to last so long.

Hopefully you will give us another chance.

I have stayed in many, many hostels over the years and this is the worst I've experienced. I originally booked for 8 nights and left after 3 despite losing money, I couldn't stay any longer. The rooms are tiny, with about a metre in between the stacks of beds, absolutely no room to open luggage. It is incredibly stuffy and hot. The bunks are triple stacked and made of metal that creaks and groans anytime anyone moves an inch. The bunks are also very short, I'm 1.6m tall and my feet and head touched both ends of the bunk, any taller and you would have to bend your knees out the side. The bathroom was dirty, with the toilet only working half the time (the staff didn't care when informed of this). There was no soap in the bathroom. The staff allowed someone who was obviously drunk to check into our room at 4am, this person was then sick everywhere which went uncleaned for hours. The wifi only works in the foyer, there are no comfortable seats here. Multiple times when passing through the foyer people were complaining about broken showers and toilets, these complaints were always dismissed by staff as "being part of an old building". I was advised by staff I could obtain a refund (except for 2 nights that I forfeited) however the staff couldn't process this as they didn't know how to do it, I was advised to return the following day. When I returned the following day the staff still didn't know how to process a refund and were unable to contact anyone that did (including the on call manager). I then had to return again in which I asked to speak to Michael the Manager who dismissed me, refused to speak to me and simply told his staff to give me my refund (the same staff who claimed they didn't know how to do this twice previously). This place is in a good location but that alone does not redeem all of its other faults. This is not even a place you could claim is just to sleep in as sleep is all but impossible. AVOID! AVOID! AVOID!

My wife and I spent 3 nights at this hostel and was pleasantly surprised at what we found. We had a private room with all the amenities, very comfortable and clean. The 2 girls on the front desk [ 13/07/13] were very helpful and although we arrived early they allowed us to leave our heavy cases in the locked luggage locker.
Breakfast was continental , basic, help yourself. The 2 girls working in the breakfast bar could have been more pleasant and at least smiled once or twice. The tube station and bus stops were in easy reach and various shops within the area.
We would defiantly use this hostel again.

Room Tip: go private room ..........clean and comfortable
