We were stuck, waiting for a funeral service at the nearby Crematorium. This eatery did not look at all hopeful from outside, but what a splendid surprise inside: a lovely welcome, followed by an excellent lunch and, the biggest surprise of all, the "house red" was a very potable Californian, which we thoroughly enjoyed. The loo was spotless, with (paper) towels - so much better than the usual hand dryer - very nice soap and hand cream. My wife gave the food and service the highest accolade ("I will make a detour to come again") and it was nice to be seated at the next table to the proprietor, who was himself eating in the restaurant. The only reasons for the four stars instead of five are (1) the tables are too small to hold the food, a wine bottle and glasses and (2) service was added on to the bill. Had this not been the case, I would have left a bigger tip that that automatically added. Otherwise, a splendid establishment to which we shall return.
