This is a beautiful hotel in excellent location staffed by friendly professional staff. From the moment we stepped through doors nothing was too much trouble. The spa alone is as therapeutic as a weeks holiday! Breakfast was lovely and served to you which makes a refreshing change in these 'buffet' times we live in. If you are contemplating a trip to London my advice would be, pay that little bit extra, it really is worth every penny!

Arrived yesterday from a four night stay at Cafe Royal. Hotel was recommended by our travel agent for a trip with my two daughters- it proved to be a perfect match. We arrived early and were led to their cafe for coffee while our room cleanup was completed; 1/2 an hour later we were in a fabulous very comfortable junior suite, enjoying showers (in what I consider a superior bathroom) and resting before beginning our London adventure. We loved the fact that besides the restaurant, you can have a quick coffee or tea with a wonderful croissant or the best poached eggs my daughter has ever had! Location could not be better for sightseeing, walks, entertainment or shopping. And being close to Soho, we were able to walk to excellent restaurants at night. The staff was so service oriented and always aware of their surroundings. Our only negative experience was being turned away from their 2 bars two nights in a row because they were full. An operations manager noticed our disappointment and did his best to remedy the situation. A suggestion to a future guest who enjoys a drink before going out to dinner is to book a table at the bar. I would give Cafe Royal 6 stars.

Room Tip: We stayed on the third floor and did not experience street noise.

We stayed in this hotel for one night whilst on a break with friends. We were warmly welcomed by all staff. The building was immaculate every where. My only criticism is that the rooms are very modern which isn't really in keeping with the history of the building, We stayed in a junior suite which was very well presented and very comfortable. The only thing missing for me was a mirror at the dressing table so as I could straighten my hair and there was not anywhere else to plug these in near a mirror, I had to use my kindle, which wasn't ideal. The spa and pool area is fantastic. Would definitely recommend this hotel just take a mirror.

Thank you for sharing your experience after your recent stay at Café Royal hotel. I am delighted that you enjoyed your stay and to hear the appreciation of our hotel. David Chipperfield Architects has achieved a balance between 21st century contemporary style and the retained grand historic public rooms of the 1860s and 1920s, which have been painstakingly restored in collaboration with historic building architects, Donald Insall Associates. Thank you also for your kind words regarding our team and service; your comments will be shared with all. We look forward to welcoming you back soon.

The location was great, especially during winter when it's comfortable that everything is near.
The hotel is very beautiful, the room was big and had a very good floor plan. The rooms are very simple (in a good way).
Service was very good. For me, a bit over service... too many people trying to hard.

Stayed one night in junior suite facing regent st

Service was fantastic and world class. They remembered I had mentioned casually on the phone there was something to be celebrated and surprised me with cake and a bottle of champagne. Very impressive they picked up on that comment.

Rooms are fantastic and windows are sound proof.

Location is great

Only place where there is room for improvement is the The Tea Room. Afternoon tea was so so. Breakfast was nice but nothing special - am not aware if gbp 30 is reasonable or not.
All in all, the restaurant does not live up to the very high standard of the rest of the hotel.
Found the decor lacking as well.

However, the hotel makes up for whatever is lacking at the restaurant.

Chose this hotel as found the ritz, savoy etc too stuffy and old fashioned

This is London's best kept secret! There is a very special thing going on at Cafe Royal. It was clear to us that the staff and hotel management really are having fun at delivering over and above the expectations of the most discerning of guests. No stuffy attitudes here . Eye contact , smiles and just the right amount of attention to our needs 24/7. Doormen greet you with warmth and genuine interest. Staff are waiting at the hall elevators. The Entry hall is magnificent. Our room overlooked Piccadilly Circus: " What a sight seeing London Experience from our bedroom!" This location is the best in London .... Also the "sound proofing" was "Pin-drop" quiet ... not even a whisper. Room decor modern and sophisticated. Special mentions to The doorman at the Air Street entry, and concierge Kareem who arranged an "impossible" reservation at Sushi Samba at the last minute so that we could surprise our brother at his 50th birthday.
All Cafe Royal staff were wonderful.
We liked it so much that we extended our stay an extra day!
This will be our First choice when we visit London Again!

Room Tip: Ask for a room with a view of Piccadilly Circus
