Had a first class stay at Cafe Royal. Great Hotel, great Spa, great location. service was excellent. Fantastic mix of modern and historic. Fantastic quality to everything following the 4 year refurbishment. The spa is first class and a real central London oasis. Leave time for a relaxing breakfast. We will definitely be returning.

Room Tip: Deluxe Double over looking Piccadilly. The triple glazing means that this can be watched in near sil...

After searching the web for afternoon tea , we decided on the cafe royal as somewhere we have not visited before. The tea was booked for 5pm as a pre theatre treat. On arrival was not overly impressed with the reception areas of the hotel, and found the entrance on air street ordinary for a five star hotel. The doormen and staff were very polite and friendly when we inquired on where to go for the tea. The tea was in the Oscar Wilde room , which is very grand and decorated in rococo style. We were politely shown to our table , and was also very pleased to see and hear the pianist which added to the occasion. The waiters and waitress were very good, could not fault the service. As for the tea , fantastic assortment of sandwich's and scones and preserves and pastries. All sorts of teas for every taste! The tea was refilled when we wanted, so were the sandwich's.

Would say we really enjoyed our afternoon tea , and could not fault the quality and service that was shown to us.

Thank you for taking the time to share your experience of the Oscar Wilde Bar at Café Royal hotel for afternoon tea. I am delighted you enjoyed the sandwiches and pastries and that the service met your expectations, I will ensure I pass on your kind words to the team. Café Royal hotel has four entrances including the one you used in Air Street. Next time you visit, may I suggest you enter via our main Regent Street entrance which is very historic and quite beautiful; pictures on the home page of our website. Thank you for your comments and we hope to welcoming you back.

We have just had an excellent three night stay at the Café Royal. A splendidly appointed hotel matched by superbly helpful staff. The Ten Room is very good as is The Café. We enjoyed The Grill Room too. The Akasha Spa and gym are magnificent. This hotel has a wonderful central location for theatres, museums, galleries, shopping and nightlife but such is the soundproofing that the hotel is an oasis of peace.

I am staying for 2 weeks, and overall everyone has been very nice so far, but there are a few small things that I want to point out that should be improved on (staying in the Mansard room):

I found this odd - There is no master switch near the bed. The light to switch all the lights is near the door, meaning that if you want to have a light on before bed, you will need to prep yourself to get out and go near the door right before you go to sleep. Don't really understand this design...

-No external speakers to quickly hook up your iPhone/Droid. Apparently there is a way to hook up bluetooth to the tv for Audio streaming but it is not intuitive

-No way to hook up your laptop or stream your computer to the TV.

-The coffee does not offer any sweetener, just brown and white sugar. Only whole milk creamers, no other options

-Barely any space in the fridge to fit your own snacks. I usually keep yogurts for breakfast and since the fridge had pull-out shelves with drinks you can buy, there was barely any room left for snacks I had.

A bit of an annoyance but can't think of a way to fix:
-As of now, to get to the spa from the top floor, you first have to go to the fifth floor and then take the elevator there. No direct route :(

Understand that I am pleased with all the other services and I am just writing this review to bring this to your attention and what I think it takes to go from a 4 to a 5. Thanks!

Room Tip: Pick floor 5 --> high floor and there is an elevator there that goes straight to the spa.

Hotel Café Royal is definitely our best Hotel experience in London. We have been celebrating our 25th wedding anniversary this weekend at the Café Royal Hotel and Management did manage great hospitality, offering great complementary service and special attention, room upgrade, bottle of Champagne, chocolate etc.The Hotel entrance looks a bit old fashion but big surprise when you get to the floors. The Room design is modern, high ceilings, very clean, (god thanks no carpets !), perfectly soundproof and well equipped with light dimmer, electric curtains etc. We had a fantastic room on the second floor, with a wonderful view on busy Regent Street and Piccadilly Circus. The floor had direct access to the amazing Akasha Spa and Fitness. The only disappointment was the breakfast. There was no buffet and we did not like the English breakfast, and less the bill ...£ 75.-!?. For booking, I recommend to contact directly the Hotel, they have more or less same price as E-booking etc. but you have much more chances to get upgrade etc… ask for a room with view on Regent Street and you will not be disappointed.

Room Tip: Ask for view on Regent Street.

Thank you for taking the time to post your review of Café Royal hotel and choosing us to host your silver wedding anniversary. I am very pleased to read of your appreciation of the design of the hotel. World famous David Chipperfield Architects has achieved a perfect balance between 21st century style and the retained grand historic public rooms of the 1860s and 1920s, which have been painstakingly restored in collaboration with historic building architects, Donald Insall Associates.Thank you for your comments regarding breakfast. We do offer a selection of breakfast choices that include an express service, continental, full English, American and healthy, as well as an á la carte service. I am very sorry this was not to your liking and hope this does not deter you from returning to Café Royal hotel in the future.

My last visit to cafe royal was perhaps 20 plus years ago.I remembered the Oscar Wilde bar and decided it would be a great place for some celebration drinks prior to going somewhere else for dinner. The room is amazing absolutely incredible and had been redecorated since my last visit.
We really enjoyed our champagne and would definitely recommend popping in for that special treat.
My only comment is perhaps the bill should not be placed on the table whilst the customers are still drinking as it was at that point we decided not to bother with another glass.

I have stayed at Four Seasons, the Halkin and a few other five star hotels in London but Café Royal beats all of them. It is perfect in every way. The staff are friendly and extremely helpful, the rooms are (Portland deluxe) a generous size and the bathrooms stunning. I loved the Oscar Wilde bar, we had an early dinner and breakfast one morning both wonderful.
It is impossible to fault this hotel. If you are looking for a five star treatment, service and accommodation look no further, it has it all.

Room Tip: Portland Deluxe on 2nd floor was great
