Great selection of authentic italian pizzas with good quality toppings and bases all at a reasonable price.

“Make sure you book!”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 15 April 2014

We popped into the restaurant on Saturday on our way out and were lucky to book a table for later that evening- was fully booked when we walked in. We weren't sure what to expect, but the food turned out to be amazing! Perfect array of cold meats and cheese for starter and then possibly the nicest white pizza (made with no tomato) that I've ever tasted for main. No room for pudding, but they all looked lovely. Am hungry just writing this review!! The BYOB factor made the meal really cheap and we are definitely going back. The reviews about poor service must have been a blip in the new opening, because our waiters were lovely. I'd totally recommend this to anyone wanting a cheap but yummy dinner before (or after) hitting Bermondsey bars.

“Lovely Italian”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 9 April 2014

I find that the other Italian restaurants on Bermonsey Street can be a little over priced for what you actually get, this is certainly not the case at Ticino! The pizzas are delicious, and some really interesting toppings, the charcuterie board are amazing (and so much food). It was even BYOB the evening we were there. Would definitely recommend, the only v small issue was that the waiter seemed to keep forgetting we were there, although when he did remember he was very nice!

“A lovely experience!”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 April 2014

Me and my partner went there for dinner on a Friday night with no reservation. They gave us a table in the basement, which was cosy but not claustrophobic (if anything, it gets noisy but they could fix that with acoustic improvements).

All the staff were really friendly and welcoming, zero attitude like other places on the street. They source their bread from the old bakery across the road (which I've always wanted to try as the lovely smell fills the street almost daily!).

The menu was fairly extensive with plenty of choices for vegetarians and in general varied dishes. As a starter we had the sharing platter with Burrata, Bresaola and Prosciutto crudo, all of which were super tasty, and came with amazing warm bread and some diamond shaped bread things that tasted really nice. We also had pizzas which were very tasty and with abundant toppings (none of that '2 thin topping slices per pizza" thing they do at most restaurants).

The dessert was a deconstructed rhubarb cheesecake which was really tasty, only a knife would have been helpful but it was great! They don't serve alcohol because they don't have a licence but you can bring your own and there is no corkage fee (as it should be), even providing ice, cooling buckets, etc.

The food overall was very yummy, really abundant, fresh and cooked well, it didn't disappoint at all. What made a difference was the service - clearly all learning but very keen to help and REALLY friendly and welcoming. For all it was at £50 for 2, it was a good deal I would say. Again, if you compare this to other offerings on Bermondsey Street, this offers more of everything except for attitude.

Will I go back? Definitely, and looking forward to it!
