We changed our European travel plans to see this and we are so glad we did ...

Pomp and ceremony only the Brits can put on show. Streets alive with people, many being guests of the main event (tickets only available by ballot), dressed in their best top hats and dresses. All looking rather stately and important. Security was high but to be expected. None of that worried us.

We arrived London early that morning and had no problem getting to the city and finding a space to view some of the main event from St James Park. We then secured a place against the barrier half way down the Mall to watch the Royals and horsemen return to Buckingham Palace. Great show, the horses absolutely amazing and the riders looked sharp in their uniforms. Quite the spectacle.

Now no one could plan this next part to be honest but we got lucky. At the end of the parade the police form a line and people can fall in behind them and walk the Mall towards Buck Palace where the Royals were due to greet us all on the balcony. As we approached the crowds already there are behind barriers so we gained access right pass them, ending up right at the fence adjunct to the central front gates. Bloody brilliant. Front row position and we even got one of the VIP guests inside the grounds to take a photo of us with our camera. Thank you again kind sir for doing this.

The royals came out and did their thing and we watched the flyover by the RAF and listened to the 41 gun salute. Crowds were good, people friendly and loving the show. Found toilets and even got coffee without too much wait in the park. Read up and plan a little as to where you want to be and have some patience and you will seriously enjoy this event. We did and so did our 6 year old son.

It was a remarkable experience. To see the guardsmen and cavalry in their full regalia was wonderful - they gave a magnificent display. The police and soldiers were very helpful in guiding us to our seats. There were crowds everywhere but that was to be expected.

Love trooping the colour seen it many times, but think June 2014 will be the last time I go, too many police who control everything, no stopping to take pictures on the Mall, cannot sit on that wall, (health and safety) they block your view, no where for disabled people to go/sit, taken all the joy and fun out of the day.
We all know the police have an important job to do, and some were friendly but most just snapped at you. Pausing when crossing the Mall, told off for taking a photo!! older people who respect the police don't take kindly to being told off like naughty children by teenagers in uniform.
I arrived before 8am, and did not manage to see the queen, then I was watching the gun salute in Green park and then I missed the fly past!! bad timing I guess.

In my 25yrs of life I have always wanted to see this spectacle and finally got down to London to do it. We arrived in London at about 945 thinking we would be too late for a decent spot but the Mall is so vast and the whole street is lined with railings that we managed to get a good vantage spot about halfway up.

The parade kicked off with all the queens horses and men (pardon the pun) making their way down the mall towards horseguards parade. The band blasted the tunes as they came down the road and everyone really enjoyed the atmosphere.

The royal family then streamed down to Horse Guards Parade in amazingly beautiful carriages, pulled by immaculate horses.

After a few hours, the parade then makes its way up to Buckingham Palace where the Mall is then opened to the public, and we can all then march up to the gates of the palace ready for the balcony waving and the RAF fly past.

All in all, it is something crossed off my bucket list and would love to do this again!
