“MOUSE/RAT IN DINING ROOM”
Reviewed 3 August 2014

Stayed here on 1st of August with my wife for one evening to be greeted whilst waiting to be booked in by a mouse or baby rat running around in the dining room! we then asked for our breakfast(pre-paid) to be cancelled & re-thought about eating/drinking in the hotel which we both decide that it would not be hygienic. The bed/pillows very comfortable but didn't get any sleep because of the worry of vermin in our room. The £7.50 parking charge was not made clear before we'd booked our room! & Hotel very under staffed which was not fair on guests or staff member(& I mean 1 member) who was covering reception, bar & kitchen duties on her own. This hotel would benefit from aircon in rooms due to the heat/weather we have had here lately.Would I recommend no because of the vermin but other than that staff tried their best under the tough working conditions they have to put up with, room was clean/tidy.

Car park is spacious. You have to pay £7.50 for 24 hours parking which seems very steep. It is London though I guess!

Reception and room were very clean. I was pleased. The bed was also super comfy.

There is no air con and the hotel is right on the runway, so it was very noisy! The shower water pressure isn't great.

The pillows are very puffy- I found it quite uncomfortable! The worst bit was being kept awake for about 3 hours by a couple having a screaming row on my floor (from 2-5am). There was no phone in the room so I couldn't phone reception for help and was too scared to go into the corridor and ask them to stop.

I couldn't get back to sleep so I think I had about 3 hours before a huge business meeting. When checking out at 7:45 I rang the bell on reception to get attention no less than 5 times. Nobody came. So I gave up, abandoned the key and hairdryer (you have to borrow hairdryers from reception), and left!

So, in conclusion... Is it in a great location? Yes- for the airport. Does the location make up for my horrendous experience? No.

Never again!!

This is a clean, basic hotel with spacious rooms - exceptional value for London. It is a little far out from the centre but easily accessible via the DLR, a short walk from London city airport stop.
Breakfast was excellent, buffet style.
There was nothing at all to complain about, but some may find the rooms a little hot in summer (this summer is abnormally hot) as the windows have restricted opening and there is no ac. A small fan is provided.

Room Tip: If you want twin beds, book a family room as all others have large double beds.

One of the better Travel lodges in the area with a great customer service team. All the other usual fixtures and fittings.
Down side- a long walk through industrial docklands from the DLR stop. Won't be booking in autumn /winter months to avoid the walk as a lone female.

Room had hairs in bed linen. Most of menu was unavailable for ordering and when ordered a pizza it tasted as though it had been cooked on a dirty pan! Location to London City Airport is the only pro!!
