“enjoyable stay”

I enjoyed staying at this hotel, it has some quirks but once they are worked through it is a very practical place to stay. There are good common areas, excellent restaurants in house and nearby and there is a 24 hour snack service. Drinks are cheaper than at other places and can be taken to one's room but there is no actual room service. At least that was my understanding. Hotel has good quality disabled access and their bathrooms were very sensibly set up. The hotel is relatively convenient for places such as Covent Garden, and the Old Vic is on the next corner, other theatres are also located in The Cut which is walking distance. Great restaurants and laundry services nearby, all in all very convenient. I was less impressed with the use of a minicab service rather than actual London Taxis as I find the service on the real product superior. The hotel staff were very helpful in allowing me to check out late on my final day. That was much appreciated.

I’d definitely stay there again.

Great location, only minutes from Waterloo and very good value. I had seen earlier positive reviews on tripadvisor and this stay lived up to high expectations I had. Rooms are a good size, spotlessly clean and front office staff very good. Breakfast is included, but it is manic. Free seating makes it difficult to get a place, but it is a very good breakfast. I would prefer to see a queue system, but that's just my view. Highly recommend hotel overall though if you are in London for any length of time.

First impressions at reception seemed a little slow and lacking experience or training, although they were very polite. It seemed to take a long time to deal with each guest before us, not helped by the fact that a lot of time was spent faffing around with guests baggage at the left lugggage facility. More staff needed for this understandably popular facility, I thought.

On to checking in, 5 ladies, booked into 2 queen rooms with pull out sofabed. We ended up first with 2 rooms that would only sleep a total of 4, then 2 rooms completely different to each other but acceptable. Room allocation seemed a bit 'luck of the draw', our attempt at checking in slightly early seemed to confuse matters, rather than just ask us to return at the correct check in time. We were then offered one queen room with sofa bed as booked and then one twin, which although wasn't what we booked, we accepted. Don't be fooled by the word 'queen' room, this room in fact contains a standard king size bed and a sofa bed, which, when pulled out to full extent and made into a bed, does not leave much floor space for 3 people to move around in or store baggage. The twin room, on the contrary, contained 2 wide single beds and a mass of floor space with a lounger chair in one corner. We all agreed room sizes were not consistent in size to the max number of people sleeping within. I needn't have bothered emailing ahead for the 2 rooms close together either, i dont think this request even made it onto their notes, as we ended up at far ends of the corridor. And it was at this point we discovered the room to room phones did not work.

Despite all this, top marks for room cleanliness, multiple power points, several large mirrors inc a full length, a half decent hairdryer, modern, good sized bathroom with toiletries provided, full working air con, well thought out lighting (reading light, floor lamp, table lamp, full on halogens) an iron and board, safe, feather pillows, daily maid service with linen change, fast and free wifi, soundproof windows.

Breakfast was a disorganised chaos, and although there were signs up in the lift advising us that the buffet area gets busy between 8.45-10, we turned up at 8.15 and still struggled for a table to eat our (now cold) breakfast with a fork no knife as the cutlery had run out! Didn't bother the next morning, it maybe 'free' but still one to miss!

Overall, despite difficulties at reception and the russian roulette with the room allocation, I would still choose this hotel above premier/travelodge, at the right price, purely for those little extra touches and great facilities in the rooms.

We live in London so it was a bit odd looking for a local hotel to escape from our home renovations for the weekend. I'd been to the meeting rooms here for a couple of work seminars so decided to book in as I found a good deal.

We were in a 4th floor queen sized room, which was spotlessly clean, had a large comfy bed and pillows, and enough space to move around comfortably. The view wasn't great but you could see the Shard. The bathroom was spacious with a walk-in shower and there was some closet space behind the bathroom sliding door with hangers and an iron and ironing board. The HD TV had a reasonable selection of channels and the wi-fi signal was fine throughout our stay. I was also grateful that there was a simple wifi code that lasted several days. It was very queit, despite the hotel being full so we had two good nights' sleep.

My only gripe would be that the water pressure was adequate to have a shower but no more than that. We didn't take advantage of the complimentary breakfast but the restaurant looked packed when we left about 9am on both mornings.

The hotel is in a great location - next door to the Old Vic and a short walk to the river and the Tate Modern and a good selection of restaurants, bars and nightlife on The Cut and at the South Bank. Several buses stop opposite that will take you to Trafalgar Square or to the British Museum. The underground and mainline stations are a couple of minutes walk away.

If we need to escape to a hotel again or need to recommend a hotel to friends, it'll definitely be this one.

Room Tip: You will get more light and better views on the higher floors

Stayed here with friends for our annual reunion. Very clean and well appointed rooms, service was friendly and the location is really handy for a whole range of attractions in the Eastern end of London. My only complaint was breakfast. It was just so manic with people everywhere, not enough seating and the scrambled eggs were truly awful. But overall very nice, just avoid the eggs!

On the face of it the hotel looks good, nice modern public areas and clean rooms. Good location and great views from upper rooms.
Breakfast was an awful experience and resembled a staff restaurant. There was an endless sea of confused pensioners staggering around with their red trays it was just an unrelaxed and not well thought out process. The hotel calls the breakfast complimentary, which it isnt as its just built into your room price.
The rooms are ok. Wjndows do not open which is a shame. Bathroom was only a shower and not great water pressure wise.
Also reception said they charge non hilton honours members to leave their baggage in storage on day of departure.
Overall I was disappointed.

Booking/Reservation/Check In

had a fuss free reservation online with very helpful Guest Service Reps who reply emails promptly. Hampton recommended an excellent transfer company CP World from Airport to Hotel.

Check In was a breeze. As everything was pre paid, it makes it pretty easy. Counter Rep is very friendly and warm.


Hotel Location
appox 5mins walk (slow walk 8-10mins) to WaterLoo Station which is also connected to Waterloo East Station. Close to London Eye and Big Ben which we managed to walk there without much hassle.


Hotel Breakfast
Hotel offers FREE breakfast for guest. Variety pretty much standard but the choice of Hot Drinks Dispenser was a great idea. Tea selection station was good too.

Hotel Dinner
Nothing much to shout about. The menu is unique and so does the taste. It didn't really suit my child's and my taste bud.


Hotel Wifi
Wifi in room is FREE and its easily connected and the signal is strong.


Room
We have a triple share room and room is clean. Room Housekeeping is done daily.


Overall,
I would love to stay in Hampton Waterloo again for the excellent location.
