“Excellent value good location”
Reviewed 21 June 2013

We were a party of 6 who stayed for two nights. The hotel staff were extremely helpful, polite and friendly. Breakfast though continental was generous with a good selection. Very good location with access to all the sights. Would definitely stay again.

Was not sure what to expect but a nice 'town house' feel and decent size room. I was on the ground floor and the people smoking in the garden were a bit annoying. The location near the British Museum was very convenient for central London yet on a quiet street.

By London standards I had large room and the staff were relatively pleasant. There were tea and coffee making facilities in the room, with hot chocolate and biscuits, very nice for this class of hotel. The toiletries in the bathroom were plentiful and good quality. There was a fruit basket in the room and I had never stayed there before. It overlooked a small garden and was quiet.

But the whole place needed a refurb. The carpets once you got beyond reception were stained and worn into holes in places. The loft ladder hung down onto the landing and the bottom end was padded so if you hit your head on it you didn't do too much damage. The doors were damaged and dirty. The place badly needed a coat of paint. The sink in my bathroom was cracked and the bin bashed. I would rather have had this sorted out than the fruit and biscuits.

I am looking for a new London hotel for my business trips after a change of employer. I will keep looking

Room Tip: get one of the named rooms, eg Dickens

Just returned from a shopping trip and had a wonderful two night stay at this hotel. The position is very convenient, a short stroll to either Holburn or Russell Square tube. Southampton Row a 3 minute walk away has a good choice of restaurants. The hotel is small and friendly, staff were happy to store our bags before check in.
Our room was large by London standards and the window opened, hallelujah! The surrounding area is quiet , peaceful and felt very safe.
I will be returning to this hotel and have already recommended it to friends.

Room Tip: Rooms 1 and 2 are ground floor with balconies overlooking the garden.

We thought location was good. Staff ok and breakfast was very nice.
Our only complaint was the bathroom, the radiator was broken and on full blast which was unbearable. The shower fixings and plug were broken plus there was someone's else's hair in the bath!
The toiletries provided were nice and also complementary fruit in the room was a nice touch.
Please note no wifi and no mini fridge in room.

Small & friendly, delightful, elegant hotel set just behind Russell Square. Lovely room and bathroom, good selections of complimentary drinks and fruit, magazines etc nice touches. Breakfast was continental but full breakfast upgrade possible. Very pleasant, well, furnished breakfast room. Great service.
Excellent location, 15 minutes walk to theatre / Leicester Square (some were closer). Numerous underground stations in walking distance.
Will definitely stay here again.

Very good hotel. Small, but good service. We were surprised however, because we booked the Grange White Hall, next door, and they put us in the Grange Blooms. Anyway, all was fine apart from the first night, we were kept awake by a loud droning noise, we complained however, and they moved our rooms, much smaller but just as nice and clean. Bathrooms were a bit small, but adequate. Very pricey though i think they need to review their room costs. One of the receptionists in particular, i think her name may have been Jenny, she was oriental, not sure if Japanese or Chinese, but she was extremely helpful and professional, so a big thanks to her. For our trouble with room moving they gave us free continental breakfast each morning for ourselves and our two daughters. The hotel was also situated in a great place for access to covent garden, leicester square and so on. All in all, very good.

Room Tip: dont let them give you room 206 - loud noise from kitchens consistently - unless its corrected.
