“Average Venue, with some flaws”
3 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 1 October 2013

Went here a few weeks back, bar staff were friendly but there weren't a lot of them on so it took 20-25 minutes of waiting at the bar before I got served. Lots of stairs which give this place character, but the smoking area is not monitored so people were smoking on the stairs leading down to it, as there was no space to stand in the smoking area, which led to an unpleasant smell drifting upwards. All in all I had a good night but maybe a few more staff are needed.

“great venue”
5 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 21 July 2013

great venue the layout is good to see the band no matter where you are standing in the main room with a smoking area downstairs the venue is a bit of a maze with stairs and doors everywhere but with signs all around it. they body search at doors and will pat you down and search your bag thoroughly just to be warned so it is worth predrinking before you go to it due to the alcohol being expensive inside

“Good venue spoilt by the bar.”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 11 June 2013

Went to the Scala for the first time to see Tracer. First thing that gets you is the stairs, no way could disabled people go here, even the toilets are up another two flights!
The main area itself is fairly small which makes better viewing of the band, but it depends on where you stand. Its air conditioned, which is great.
The bar is its weak point. Expensive compared to other venues even ones much larger. Then half way through the evening they run out of pint glasses, a very convenient way of then selling the even more over priced canned and bottled beer!

“Nice Place”

Good sound system, Good view, the only thing is the orientation of the venue which makes it look packed than it is but actually there is space to move & get closer. Not many acts I like play here 1st came here in 2006 & then again in 2008. Just 2 mins from Kings Cross Sta

“Frost Bites concert”
2 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 20 December 2012

Went to the Frost Bites concert last Sunday. Doors opened at 7 with gig starting at 7.30 and a massive crowd stretched round the venue with security checking everyones bags as they went in.Subsequently many people did not see the start of the gig. There were crash barriers to herd everyone in against the outside walls but they seemed to be the wrong way round as everyone was walking over the metal stands.Inside it was packed to the rafters.Being too late to get into the auditorium as it was too full we stood on one of the staircases at the side which was also jam packed. Very disappointed with the venue. Not enough vantage points to see the concert. Seemed to be too many people in. Definitely will not go there again.
