We were sent to Shaftesbury Hyde Park International because of a maintenance issue at the sister hotel that we booked. We received a free upgrade to the Club Room which was bigger than the standard rooms. There's no fridge in the room but we could keep perishables in the common fridge using a tag.

All the staff at check-in desk were helpful. Patricia in particular offered a complimentary gift when she learned of a birthday. Costa from maintenance also came readily to our rescue when one of us dropped a contact lens into the sink. The catering staff was quite patient with us when we turned up for breakfast 5 min before closing on our first morning. Simple and nice breakfast.

It's one minute walk away from Bayswater tube station - a huge convenience. Shops and mini marts nearby. Loved Shaftsbury Hyde Park!

The Shaftesbury Hotel is a nice hotel located next to Paddington.
Hotel is clean and has nice rooms. Rooms are very small. Breakfast is very nice.
Hotel value for money is great.
No other services like bell captain for uggage or swimming pool etc.

At first, I was a bit worried about staying in a hotel that was not a part of a brand/chain, but Shaftesbury not only squashed my former ideals, but it definitely lives up to its reputation. This was my first time in Europe and the first city in our London/Paris trip, so I couldn't help but miss this place when we checked out. But without rambling any further, this hotel is in a prime location, 5 minutes walking distance from Bayswater Subway, shops, restaurants and close to Hyde park for any of you runners that like to stay fit abroad. Well worth the visit.

I stayed here from the 23rd of August till the 20th of September 2013, and I found the experience to be an excellent one. Firstly the location of the hotel is perfect for London. You are about 3 minutes or less walking away from 2 tube stations, Queensway and Bayswater, which connect you directly to 3 lines, and make travelling to anywhere in London very easy and convenient. Additionally, the street parallel to the one the hotel is on is full of life and hustle bustle with every kind of entertainment just a few minutes walk away. Plenty of stores (tesco, sainsbury, and boots included), a starbucks, cafes, a casino, a mall, a cinema, shops etc., are all very very close.
Secondly the facilities are very good value for money. The rooms, although slightly on the small size (but quite decent for London mind you), and very clean and well furnished. There is an AC, heater, etc. There's no minibar, but that really isn't a big deal. The toilets are clean, and ours had a tub, which was nice. The breakfast is also very good, with all sorts of juices and coffees and teas, along with hash browns, omelettes, sausages, cerials etc.
And finally the service is excellent. The staff is very helpful and nice. They were an essential part of my stay, and since I was staying for four weeks, they really made my stay a pleasurable one, often going out of their way to accommodate my needs. Mandar and the entire team at the hotel really did become friends, and should be commended for all they did for us.
In summary I just want to say that one shouldn't worry too much when booking here. Just make sure you book early, as this place is in high demand, and it is sometimes difficult to find a place. But if you want an absolutely stunning value for money stay in London, with an excellent central location, and amazing staff, then really you shouldn't think twice.

I was very happy with this hotel. I was looking for a cosy, clean and centrally located hotel for a business trip and was totally satisfied with the Shaftesbury Hide Park.
I appreciated the upgrade to a deluxe bedroom. The room was very clean, the bed comfortable, the bathroom impeccable and the staff friendly. The only downsides were the size of the room (not vey spacious), the lack of view and the noise coming from the fridges in the breakfast room. Buffet breakfast was very good, copious & fresh.

Sincerely apologies for the inconvenience you had with the room size, being a Victorian building our hotel consists in different room sizes and not all with a front view.

Please contact me on your next visit so I can make all the arrangements, for a bigger room with a front view .
