This guest house wasn't a bad choice after all. The location is not the best, but moving around London is really not that hard. Is very close to the Wadsworth Road train station, which brings you west or east, but with buses you can reach many points, including the Vauxall tube station. The room was very very very small, but clean, and the staff was efficient (even in the email replies) and nice.
I won't rate this too high because you can find better, but if you don't wanna spend too much money and be in a neat place, this can be a good choice. I'll consider coming again.

Dear Bluedrumble,

Thank you for taking the time to review your stay at Chelsea Guest House, we are always happy to read reviews such as yours to help us in continuing to improve our customer experience for our future and returning guests.

We see ourselves as a well-located budget accommodation, as you mentioned, but we also try to offer our guests, through our staff and hard service work, a pleasant environment to unwind after a long day travelling or working.

Our reception team are all well informed on transport into the centre of the city, and will advise our guests of the best and quickest routes on that day, taking into consideration traffic, closures and more. The centre of the city can be reached in as little as 10 minutes on the bus.

We hope that your stay in London was pleasant, and we look forward to seeing you again soon, in the mean time we will continue to work hard to improve our services and our accommodation, and we hope to impress you even more on your next stay at the Chelsea Guest House

Best regards,
Paul

I recently had to go to London at very short notice to visit a very sick child at Kings Hospital.
I was on a small budget with very little time to find a decent hotel. Fortunately I stumbled upon the Chelsea Guest House. I was most impressed, not only by the room which was extremely clean and modern (albeit small), well equipped and perfect for me but by the most helpful and kind staff. Unfortunately in my rush, I booked the wrong date but the Manager and the receptionist altered the booking (as I had booked through Expedia which cannot be changed) and even upgraded my room to include tea/coffee etc. I thought that was very kind and most appreciated. Admittedly, the area is not wonderful but certainly not awful - a London suburb and not the centre of London which are worlds apart! The price was extremely reasonable for my purposes and I did not feel like I was in any danger and was quite happy to walk to and from the station (where I needed to be to get to the hospital). The station is so close that if you stay longer you can get to wherever you want to be in and round London within minutes. The very next time I go to the O2 I can assure everyone that I would have no hesitation in staying at this hotel again. Thank you all.

Room Tip: I had a room near the entrance which is noisy as it is on the road side (buses, traffic etc) but for my purpose that was not a problem (too tired to care)!! I should imagine that rooms towards the back of the hotel would be quieter.

Dear Nicolafine,

Thank you kindly for taking the time from your schedule to post a review about our guest house.

Firstly may I say we send our prayers and thoughts to the very sick child you were here to visit in the hospital and best wishes to yourself from all of us here at Chelsea Guest House.

We are on hand 24 hours a day to help with any problems or queries our guests may have when making a reservation, and as you stated usually you cannot change the dates once booked with the advanced purchase rate, however as your circumstances were exceptional to us, we had to help you and make and exception to move this reservation for you, (albeit if it was only a couple of days back).

The room you stayed in was one of our newly refurbished rooms, and I am so pleased to see that you can appreciate the work that has gone into them to bring our guests a fresh, modern clean accommodation during their visit to London, whether they be here as a tourist, business or as yourself visiting friends/family.

I am pleased to see that you will return to stay at the guest house when you are visiting the O2, whether that be the O2 Brixton Academy just 20 minutes walk or 5 minutes in a taxi away from us, or the O2 Arena nr Greenwich just 28 minutes away via the Overground station which is just 300m from the guest house.

We look forward to welcoming you back in the future.

All the best,

Kind Regards

Not situated in the best looking area of London but our room was spot on very clean and modern looked as if it had just been redone.

A bus stop directly outside with only 5 minutes bus ride to Vauxhall station, McDonald's directly next door if you like fast food and a very helpful guy on reception who spent a good 10 minutes finding us an alternate tube route due to some lines being closed for maintenance.

All in all very positive experience, will be staying again if we need to visit that area of London.

Dear Danfrier,

Thank you for giving us this great review of your stay at Chelsea Guest House, we've been working hard to cater to our guests needs and your feedback tells us we are on the right track.

Here at Chelsea Guest House, we've established there are a few key points to improving the guest experience, and one of them is making sure they understand the transport system as it can be complicated for those who have never used it before!
This is made easy by our location, which offers links to 24 hour buses going to central and West London, but our staff are still happy to offer alternatives (especially when so many lines are down for maintenance that going from A to B might seem like a scavenger hunt for available services).

You are correct to say that the rooms look like they've been redone, as we've are also on track to refurbishing more of our rooms, as well as the two main buildings.

We hope that we will have a chance to show you our latest improvements on your next visit to London.

Best regards,

Paul

We stayed here for 3 nights. The staff were very nice and helpful.

The hotel is not in the best location in London. The neighborhood was kinda scary. Not the kind to stroll around at night. The closest tube station that will take you to the city (fast) is Clapham North, not Wandsworth Road (which is the Train line - Don't make the same mistake I did). To get to Clapham North you have to walk for about 10 minutes.

The room was very simple and basic.

Dear Dman86,

Thank you for taking the time to give us your thoughts on your stay at Chelsea Guest House, your feedback is crucial for our commitment to improve our services.

Many of our clients ask what the neighborhood is like, and while some people find the estate buildings imposing, the charming Clapham and Battersea areas situated along Wandsworth Road are very up-scale residential neighborhoods, with Clapham High Street, a few minutes away from the Guest House being one of the most sought after property zones in London.

The recent inclusion of our street is the Barclays Cycle hire, for public use bicycles are a testament to the area’s safe streets. Also regarding transport, we usually advise our guests to use the buses that take only 10-15 minutes to reach many of the main attraction points in the city(Parliament, Westminster Abbey, Trafalgar Square, Covent Garden), while the en-route Vauxhall station also insures a 5 minute access to the underground network.

We hope however that you were pleased with your overall experience and that we will be able to have a chance to impress you, on your next visit to London. Until then, we thank you once again for your review and wish you all the best!

Best regards,

Paul

Staying here for two nights for Freeze Festival was ideal. Close to Clapham Common and trains/buses. Pleasantly surprised with the recently refurbished room - small but perfectly formed! Shower was lush and relieved to have tea/coffee facilities for the morning. TV and free WiFi too! The staff were really friendly and welcoming - 24 hour reception is very convenient and reassuring and good check in/check out times. We were staying in Room 3 which is right next to the front door, and did have a lot of noise from the road. Also, without the blind down, all from the street could see in. Maybe needs to be half frosted for some privacy and natural daylight. Despite that I would definitely book here again as it is such great value for money.

Dear Banana2835,

Thank you so much for taking the time to write this review of your stay at Chelsea Guest House during your visit to London for the Freeze Festival 2013, we hope you enjoyed the festival as much as the other guests we had staying with us for this event.

We always appreciate our guests reviewing our newly refurbished rooms, as we have put a lot of effort into sourcing and researching the best furniture and fittings possible for our guests comfort during their stay with us.
We are sorry that you experienced some noise from the main road, and for your next visit just ask the receptionist when you make your reservation directly, to allocate you a room away from the main road and we will be more than happy to accommodate this for you.

Thank you once again for your review, and we do hope we will see you on your next visit to London.

Kindest Regards,
