When we arrived at the Sumner our room wasn't ready and it was raining and we were tired from traveling. The lovely receptionest brought us (family of three, including 7 year old) coffee and tea in the well-appointed lounge and chocolate covered biscuits. I think it was noon...not exactly tea time. This was the just was we needed to regroup. The room was ready shortly thereafter. Our room was a triple and quite large for Europe. The bathroom well-designed and big as well. Modern everything. I have come to detest 'bedspreads' of any sort, as we all know what's on them. Happy to say the Sumner does the freshly laundered white duvet that I prefer. Traveling with a young daughter, she had brought some dolls, which the maid always took care to put in a special place in the room each day that my daughter loved to discover when we came back each evening. We had the sense we were well taken care of at the lovely, clean, well-located Sumner. Only negative is spotty internet reception from our room on the third floor.

I'd read the reviews on service, but I've never felt more unwelcome in a hotel before. Stayed on Friday 1st July and the young lady on reception was less than friendly and less than helpful. I asked for a second room key and she wasn't impressed. The next morning I rang down to ask for an iron and ironing board (shouldn't they be in any decent room?) and the same young lady almost threw it at me when I opened the door. Very unimpressed.

The lounge on the ground was very stylish, but this wasn't the case with the bedrooms, very old fashioned and bizarrely decorated. Very basic shower and the tiniest towels known to man. I would expect bath robes in this type of hotel or at least decent sized ones. Two single beds pushed together as well ratter than a king.

At breakfast we had to ask what to do as the waitress ignored us. Breakfast ok, but I'd expect fresh orange juice not warm packet juice. I'd hate to be in one of the two bedrooms next to the breakfast room - 100 and 200 - avoid.

Overall, great location, noisy, unfriendly, wouldn't recommend.

Location is very good, close to the park and Oxford St. Hotel was clean but nothing impressive. Walls were very thin, so we could hear steps and voices most of the time. Staff could be more friendly, the reception woman didn't even smile when we show up and made no efforts to look nice. On my last morning the house keeping staff was working on the room in front of mine with the door opened and talking like gossip girls, using the vacuum and making a lot of noise. I couldn't believe when I opened the door I found out it was them and not a loud visitor, as I expected... I had to shusshh them like kids, unacceptable at 9am!!

Staff extremely nice and helpful, room was spacious and quiet, wine in mini-bar was cold. There was no problem with calling cabs and providing driver to airport. All good! We had to leave early next AM before Breakfast but staff worked with us to provide it on our schedule. We would definitely stay there again.

The hotel was intimate and extremely well located. The prices are very reasonable for central London. Breakfast is wonderful with a huge selection of both hot and cold items including cold cuts, cheeses, etc. Incredible given that it is included in the price. No surprise for London but the rooms are small but have everything you want. Bathroom is modern. Rooms are serviced exceptionally well and kept super clean. They have nice touches like free chocolate bars, free Internet, travel books, etc. The staff are all wonderful. A large number of excellent pubs and restaurants within a block or two as well. Vinoteca Wine Bar around the corner has outstanding food and wines plus reasonable prices. My wife got sick and they were incredibly helpful assisting us. The manager even came in during the middle of the night to ensure we were OK. What other hotel would do that that? All in all, a wonderful experience. Highly recommended. Don't miss this place on your next visit to London.

Pleasant and courteous service by staff, at reception, room service and restaurant., We liked the spacious room , well furnished and equipped. The hotel is centrally located within walking distance of parks (Hyde P. and Regents P.), shopping centres (Oxford Street and vicinity) and other attractions such as restaurants etc. This is what we liked best about the Sumner hotel.

The location couldnt be better, just a short walk to the tube station and Oxford street. Rooms were very nice and clean, breakfast was great, although early in the morning. Everything you would ever want in a hotel is here at the Sumner.
