I took my teenage daughter and friend for a shopping trip and the hotel was perfectly located for the West End. The room was comfortable, with a good size room. My only suggestion is to sort out the television reception - no BBC for some reason.

Spent Easter weekend at this hotel. Small but well appointed. Room and bathroom were up-to-date. Was visiting friend in London so did not spend much time in hotel. Three-and-a-half blocks to underground at Marble Arch. Staff very helpful.

Room Tip: Pack light - no bell man - elevators are staggered and I had half-flight of stairs to room.

Overall, we had a great experience and lovely stay at The Sumner. Upon check-in, there was some discrepancy between what the hotel believed our nightly rate should be and what we were strongly led to believe the nightly rate should be, but this was eventually resolved to everyone's satisfaction. We had a deluxe room which we found very spacious, bright, and clean. A highlight for us was the hotel breakfast every morning - and not just continnental-style breakfast but a real, full, English-style breakfast (we've seen comments on here regarding the "weird" basement breakfast room with no windows, but perhaps some people may not realize that this is not unusual for small European hotels). We also found ourselves in the habit of ordering tea (fully complimentary all day, every day!) up to our room once a day... the Sumner staff, very attentive and friendly, always went the extra-mile to make up a very presentable tea-tray that even included a few [addictive] chocolate treats.

Free internet and computer use, a quiet and spacious library/living room, and excellent location also all contributed to our memorable time at The Sumner.

We would be happy to stay here again given the opportunity.

we enjoyed a great and an exciting week in London and stayed at The Sumner Hotel for the second time. The hotel offers many opportunities in some different aspects: the rooms are excellent, very clean and we slept extremely well in the famous Kingsize bed. We always got great help and friendly support in all things. The delicate and large breakfast was the best basis for our excursions through London. Besides all individually benefits we also enjoy the good regional and other convenience: near Marble Arch and near underground station, Hyde Park, pubs, shops, cinema and so on. We can recommend the hotel without any restrictions and with great empathy. We are sure we`ll come again.

Room Tip: We enjoyed sleeping in a Kingsize bed

I had family from the states staying for a week and wanted something close to my house. I looked at every hotel near Marble Arch. This hotel was simply the best. The rooms have all been renovated. When I went to see the hotel, they took me through many rooms and let me choose which room I would prefer for my family. The staff at the hotel is very friendly and helpful. They checked on the family each day. The manager, Rohit, passed me on the street and wanted me to know I was welcome for breakfast each day... Speaking of their breakfast - small room, but great food selection and incredible service. Was a great way to start the day. For Easter, they made Easter treats for the guests.

This is my new home to house guests in the future.

Room Tip: The basement rooms are larger. I was worried about noise from the street - but that was not a probl...

This hotel has a great location on a quiet street a few blocks from the Marble Arch station.
The staff is very friendly, the atmosphere is nice and the rooms are clean and comfortable.
The breakfast buffet is also great!

We would definitely come here again.

Our stay at The Sumner Hotel was good. But we were disappointed after the raving reviews we had read on Trip advisor. Yes, the hotel is cute, charming and has good service. But, cute always means small, charming means a bit quirky and good service means we received basic, but nothing more.

Good points: the hotel is located in a quiet, safe area just minutes to Hyde Park, the tube (subway), loads of restaurants and excellent shopping. The Hotel offers a nice breakfast with croissants, wonderful cheeses, prosciutto, etc…along with decent scrambled eggs, beans and a hot meat. There are also cereals, yogurts, delicious fresh fruits, juices, coffee (not good) and hot tea. Free Wi-Fi is a great advantage for us and it worked very well throughout the building.

Not so good points: The Queen Standard Rooms are very small and dark. They are located in the back of the building, facing the back of other buildings. If you are just there to sleep and shower, you will be okay. But we were there for 6 days and wanted to be comfortable enough in the room to relax, read and move about freely. We upgraded (for 30$ more per night) to the King Standard Room and were much more comfortable. There was twice as much space and 2 windows facing the street. The bathrooms are modern, but lack towel racks and shelves for toiletries.

For us, this “boutique” hotel was quiet and nice, but I think we would prefer the service and amenities of a larger hotel.
