I took my students to King's Cross Station mainly because of Platform 9 3/4, but it was worth visiting. The amazing architecture of the place was breathtaking. Some students stood in the line to have their photo from Harry Potter scene taken while others visited a souvenir shop. I just admired the views.

Opened in 1852, it's across from St Pancras station where we hopped the train to Paris through the Chunnel.

As a major rail station, we took the tube there to get to St Pancras. If we needed to catch a train out of town, the maps show we might use that station.

Kings Cross is a Terminus for Namely East Coast trains to Scotland and other trains to the North and East of England. It is a fantastic piece of Victorian architecture, and just a very pleasant place to be. Staff are probably the friendliest of all the London stations, and they realise that. The station is home to Platform 9 3/4 from the Harry Potter series, and has a store that sells such items. Neat place to check out! The boards are clear and very large,so you can clearly see what trains are next. The Cross often sees a lot of steam trains, so dont be surprised if you happen to visit and one of them is on the platform!

I live stations, they are full of stories. And this station is a nice place to be and say hello or good bye. The roof is amazing to look at but it's the cleanliness that hits me. Not like those literally tacky underfoot, slightly foreboding places of a few years ago. There the platform 9¾ to add charm and interest and the food outlets are varied and good quality. I only give it poor for values as public transport at peak times is very expensive and crowded but that's no fault of this cathedral of transportation.
