I have been going for lunch five days a week for about ten years to this unassuming looking cafe next door to The Chelsea Ram and have never known it to be better. I have seen many incarnations and differing managers - the famously grumpy Frenchman, the coke snorting middle Eastern playboy, the Made in Chelsea style youngsters running it as a hobby job. Sometimes the food has been good, sometimes bad. When budgets were low years ago they offered that well known Italian delicacy - pasta with tomato ketchup. On sunny day the queue could be out the door. But it always has had charm in abundance at the more appealing bum end of Chelsea. However since Maureen took over about a year ago this little cafe is offering restaurant style food at cafe prices. Big selection of Asian and European food, excellent and imaginative salads, freshness and variety. The service is fast, smiling and friendly and there is an energy to the place. Sitting outside on the pavement and watching the world go by eating delicious food is one of my simple pleasures. I only wonder why it isn't open in the evening. Long may it last with the current team in place. My lunchtimes are a major reason I have stayed working in the area, and the cafe is a big part of the local community. Thank you!
