I have stayed here quite a few times over the last couple of years and thought it would be worth sharing my opinions! Firstly its in a brilliant location, 2 mins from Bayswater, Queensway tubes and Hyde Park just at the end of the road. Something worth mentioning is unlike all other hotels in the area (there are loads to choose from!) the price is the price regardless of whether its New Years Eve or the quietest day of the year which is a nice touch considering the hugely inflated hotel prices you normally are subject to in London when its busy.
The rooms are pretty tired and yes there are worn carpets, broken fixtures etc but it is what it is and the general attitude of staff is if you don't like it then stay somewhere else (I don't mean that in a bad way) just its not like the hotel is trying to pretend to be anything its not. Its cheap, the rooms are well cleaned, you get a TV and even a remote, WiFi normally works well and its free, you can leave your luggage without being charged, the staff are friendly and welcoming, the shared showers/toilets are clean and well stocked with toilet paper and soap.
The negatives are the carpets throughout are well worn and stained, the floors are a bit creaky, paper thin walls, breakfast isn't brilliant, very strict no guests allowed policy to the point where an alarm sounds if you try and enter through a door which doesn't involve passing right by the reception (understandable for various reasons) but still find it amusing!
Overall I would certainly recommend the Queens Hotel on the basis of price, location, staff, cleanliness, you just need to be prepared to look past the general appearance of the place and remember its Central London and even the nearest Premier Inn will be 3x the price.
