The picture would suggest this hotel is in its own grounds. Well its not. It is on a busy main road, the parking is tight and they don't do food at night, plus the breakfast is only continental.. i also don't want to have to write a minimum of 200 characters just so i can submit a review.

Dear Nick S

Thank you very much for taking the time to review your stay. We were all so sorry to read your review and see that you did not enjoy your time with us

Please be informed we do have rooms over-looking the quieter side of the building which are subject to availability.

Our parking facilities consist of both indoor and outdoor parking and is spacious with well over 30 spaces however we wish we had known about your concerns before you checked out of the hotel so that the problems could have rectified while you were still with us.

We believe breakfast is the most important meal of the day thus providing a continental spread that is ‘plentiful’ both in quantity and variety for all our guests to last through the morning.

Bearing in mind a cluster of restaurants within the vicinity are a mere 5 minutes walk from the hotel, however, a full range of delicious take away menus are made available to our guests should they choose to dine in the comfort of their own room plus a selection of sandwich and pies are also available for sale at the reception, if they wish to go for a lighter option for dinner.

Once again, thank you for your valuable feedback and my sincere apologies for not meeting your expectations.

Yours sincerely

I booked this hotel and requested a disabled room as I am a wheelchair user. When arrived, we weren't allocated this room. The woman on reception was lovely and upgraded us to an apartment, which was VERY dirty! In the morning they couldn't find ramps up to the restaurant, and my partner had to lift my 167kg electric wheelchair. Would never ever stay here again and would not recommend to other wheelchair users.

Dear Jasmin R

Thank you for taking the time to write a review of your recent visit to the Best Western London Highbury Hotel.

I am very saddened to hear of your disappointment and please be assured that we have taken a keen interest in your comments as feedback from our guests is essential and of great importance to us.

As discussed over our phone conversation, it was concluded there was a mis-communication with regards to the room requested during the reservation stage and as a result, you did not received your requested room but only to be upgraded to one of our luxurious apartments. May I take this opportunity to sincerely apologize that this room did not exceed your expectations.

Sincere apologies for the lapse of service the next morning, whom which all involved join me in apologizing for the inconvenience this had caused your and your partner.

We do truly value feedback and it is important for us to listen to the needs of each of our guests in order to provide the best service and experience.

Once again, thank you for your comments.

Yours sincerely

Bed was terrible, it was a fold out bed!! No restaurant or food available. Parking OK, but not unto Best Western standards that I have come to expect. Recommend to use Premier Inn as beds much better !!!!!!!

Dear Joseph R

Thank you for your feedback. I am sorry to learn that your experience with us was not what we hope for and the level of service we strive to deliver to all our guests. The mentioned points are quite of a concern to us and definitely not the high standards we pride ourselves on.

Whilst I am truly disappointed to learn the quality of bed had affected your stay, please be informed we do have a few rooms which had the beds exchanged to new ones early this year.

Our car park facilities consist of both indoor and outdoor parking but sadly, this was not what you had come to expect.

We do have a restaurant which serves breakfast, offering a wide variety of continental delights with coffee and juices in the morning.

Whilst the restaurants in the vicinity are a mere 5 minutes walk away from the hotel, we do have a wide selection of take-away menus available at the reception should our prefers to dine in their room. In addition, a choice of sandwiches and pie are also available for sale at the reception for anyone who prefers to have a light dinner.

Once again, thank you for your feedback.

Yours sincerely

Just back from a weekend trip to London...stayed here and was quite satisfied with it, it's near a good tube line and it's clean and breakfast was adequate - all self service, no frills! The area is a bit dodgy so wouldn't walk alone late at night and clearer directions would have been helpful but overall I would recommend it as a good base for a sightseeing trip.

On the plus side, staff were very friendly and helpful, it was clean, warm, well-maintained and well-presented. Also I think the breakfast has been upgraded since previous reviews.
However the room I had was tiny - a crush to get past my briefcase, the traffic outside woke me at 4am (a very busy road), it was a long way from the tube and restaurants (though sandwiches available in reception) and the area didn't feel that safe.
Particularly annoying for me as I was working was the low strength wifi signal which meant I had difficulty downloading graphics and it stopped streaming a BBC programme part of the way through. No signal at all in the breakfast room.

Room Tip: Don't get one facing Seven Sisters Road...

Go to this hotel if: 1. You don't mind ordering ahead your gluten free breakfast bread, checking twice with reception staff that the kitchen staff are ready and prepared for this need, then being told the next morning that they know nothing about it. 2. If you don't mind your safe not working. 3. If you don't mind asking for some help with your TV reception, being promised help, then forgotten and not given an apology 3. Being told (afterwards) that you should have asked officiously if you want your bedroom heating to be put on in late February, then being told the same when you wake freezing the next morning. 4. If you don't mind asking for the manager to ring you (not on the premises for the duration of the stay) then never receiving such a call. Bed and bedroom were clean, there was free wi-fi and morning receptionist did his best when clearly the hotel is not managed properly and communications sadly lacking. (The evening receptionists were trained to be breezy and seemingly polite but not to be professional).

Room Tip: Think carefully.

Good location about 500 metres from tube, 3 stops from Kings Cross. Not far from Trendy Islington with good tube and bus connections. We were in room 105 on lower ground floor. Partial car park view. Room quite small but had everything you need. Heating could have been better. Bed comfortable but seemed smaller than a double. Breakfast OK. Only cold items.
