“Nice Hotel in Central London”
Reviewed 23 August 2014

Stayed here with my Husband & two Sons, ages 17 & 20 for 5 nights. Lovely & spacious room with queen bed & double pull out sofa. Kitchenette cleverly hidden behind pantry doors. Fridge, sink, microwave, stovetop, and kettle. Very convenient for making toast & coffee before heading out for sightseeing. Liked the large vanity that separated the bed & sofa bed--I used this a desk. Great location. Close the Hyde Park, Underground stations, and lots of shops & restaurants within walking distance. Would not hesitate to stay here again or to recommend to friends.

Great hotel close to Queensway so lots of shops and places to eat. Walking distance to Hyde Park 2x underground stations and Paddington station if you need to go to Heathrow. Has free Wifi, safe, kitchenette, coffee making and fridge. Good size room and bathroom which were spotless. In a quiet area. Reception were helpful. Would stay there again and recommend it to friends.

Stayed for First Test Match against Sri Lanka. Hotel was ideally situated for us, reasonable walk to Paddington Station as well as Lord's. Located on Cleveland Square it was a charming and quiet location.

Although our room was on the ground floor close to reception it was very quiet and we slept soundly. It was had a comfortable room, adequate furniture and it had a small kitchenette which was useful for breakfast.

Pleasant boutique hotel in Bayswater which is well priced for London. It is more a 3-1/2 star than a 4 but better than average. It was only a short walk from Paddington Station which is where the Heathrow Express leaves from and arrives to, so it is very convenient. The hotel is only a couple of blocks walk from Kensington Gardens and from Hyde Park which is very convenient if you have children or are a lover of open space. It is on a quiet cup-de-sac too. The rooms are fairly spacious and are clean. The only complaints we had about the room was that the water temperature is very variable while showering, especially if someone else in the building is showering. The safe did not work either. The people at the reception are not terribly friendly but not rude. You can order a breakfast the night before for extra money but we did not use that option. There are many good restaurants a fairly short walk close to the hotel. The area is clean and safe.

Thank you very much for your review.

We are happy that you liked the room and had a pleasant stay. We are sorry that the shower did not work as you would like it to and also that the safe was not working, it has been repaired now.
We also appreciate your remarks about our staff, I assure you that we try to be as friendly and professional as possible, we are sorry that we did not give you that impression.

We would like to host you again though, we hope that you will consider us on future occasions.

Having viewed previous photographs of this hotel we were really looking forward to our stay. On arrival we were delighted with the location , exterior of the hotel & reception area but so very disappointed with our room (room 11) which I can only describe as soulless. It was located in a door behind the reception area & had no charm , no character , no view , indeed it looked like a room from a travel lodge.......
As we were only staying for the one night we didn't like to complain but on reflection I really wished we had (taking into consideration we actually paid for an upgrade.........).
The decor in the room including the art work is dreary & not authentic of such a beautiful building.
We tried not to let it spoil our weekend and made sure we spent as little time as possible in the room.

Room Tip: Room 11 behind reception has no view or character.

We got a good deal on a triple room for one night and were happy to find the hotel in a very quiet location. They were happy to look after our bags for the day while we went out sightseeing and were pleased to find them already in our room when we got back. The room was a good size, clean and the main bed was comfortable. We were led to believe there was another bed, but this turned out to be quite an uncomfortable pull-out. This was the only downside of the otherwise lovely room. The free wifi was also good.

With regards to location, it is equidistant from a few different tube stations. Being five minutes from Lancaster Gate which is on the Central line made it easy to get straight into the centre of the city. We didn't have the breakfast but found a nice cafe nearby on the recommendation of the man on the front desk when we checked out. Once again, they were happy to keep our bags in secure storage for the day until we came back to pick them up later on.

Overall, we were happy with our stay.

We got a good price via LastMinute.com and were generally well-satisfied with our room.
On the plus side:
a) good location in a quiet square (10 min walk from Paddington or Bayswater tube - and Bayswater has shops and good-sized mall)
b) friendly staff
c) good-sized free safe in room
d) kitchenette area with fridge, cooking ring, crockery/cutlery
e) free wifi - a bit clunky but basically worked
f) good sized room

On the negative side:
a) room smelled of air-freshener, which I hate
b) venetian blinds rather than curtains, let in the light first thing
c) mirrors inadequate for short-sighted woman trying to put on make-up: a well-lit magnifying mirror is really needed

I suspect for many people, those negatives aren't particularly important, and if that's true for you, I'd thoroughly recommend this place; I suspect it would be difficult to find anywhere else in this area that was as good in terms of value-for-money.
