The hotel was clean, comfortable and reasonably priced. The location is right outside the the metro which is very convienent. The attendants are very helpful to direct you to the areas that you want to visit. Only one warning: There is no lift so you will have to carry your bags to your room.

Dear Guest,

Thank you very much for leaving a review. Great to know that our location right next to the underground station was of benefit. It does make exploring London so much easier and there is lots to see in the area near the hotel.

You are absolutely right we do not have a lift and we always aim to help anyone with luggage who may need assistance. We also have ground floor rooms if requested at the time of booking.

We hope to see you again soon.

Kind regards,
Claudia

The good point of this place is its location next to underground station. Also the staff is really friendly and helpful. I booked a double room with shower. Opening the window was not a good idea, because there was a very loud ventilator next, and you couldn`t sleep well then. The room was equipment in very basic style, actually 4 beds instead of a double, so there was not much space for something else. For the price requested there are much better places in London.

Dear Martin,

Thank you for taking the time to leave a review.

Sorry to hear that an external fan was noisy when you opened the window. This should not be the case and is not our fan either but belongs to an adjoining business.

In your case due to the rooms we had available at the time you were given a tripple room. This room does have 1 double bed and 2 singles which I appreciate was more than you required. Some people appreciate having this extra space as they use the other beds to place belongings on. Sorry that this was not of benefit for you.

Kind regards,
Claudia

This hotel was recommended by the establishment I was due to visit the following morning. I only stayed for a night! I agree with other reviewers that the hotel doesn't look as much on the outside, but it is very well located by the tube station; 10 minutes cab ride from Waterloo train station; great dining venues and pubs are within walking distance. On arrival, I was greeted by a looked door and a steep staircase....Staff was friendly and helpful. I reserved a single room with en suite bathroom which turned up to be located downstairs and access was via the cafe. That was a bit unusual.... and it turned up that this is part of a new development of the hotel. The room was still smelling of new materials and fresh paint and all fittings were brand new, stylish and functional. The room was very clean and quite! The TV had a huge selection of TV and radio channels. They charge a small fee for Wi-Fi. There is no intercom to communicate with the reception though! Very good budget value hotel.

Dear Maria Anna,

Thank you very much for your review. I think we may be the only hotel to have access through a cafe. As we are a small independent hotel in a central London location we have been inventive and used the space we have available. Very pleased that you enjoyed the rooms and found them comfortable with good facilities. At least you are never far away from good food and excellent coffee!

We hope to see you with us again.

Kind regards,
Claudia

I had stayed at this small hotel in August - one night in a small single room, and one night in a triple room. I was pleased with the service and the helpful, friendly staff; the rooms were basic and very clean with adequate facilities.
My sisters and I were celebrating a birthday and to our surprise a card and chocolates were left for us!
I stayed again recently with my partner. We requested a twin room and an apartment was recommended. This was a small flat in a block of (residential?) flats a couple of hundred yards down the road. Sadly our expectations were not fulfilled. The flat was spotless but the furnishings old, worn and of poor quality. The boiler could not be switched off so the whole flat was continually hot with minimal air circulation from windows that did not open more than a couple of inches. Unfortunately a fan that was provided did not help despite being on all night. The mattress was lumpy and also disturbed the first night's sleep.
Sadly, I cannot recommend the hotel again.

Dear Guest,

Really pleased to know that you appreciated the surprise chocolates we supplied for you on your first visit. What a shame that your excellent first visit has led to you not being able to recommend us at all based on your second visit.

Perhaps you would like to reconsider your decision safe in the knowledge that your first experience in our hotel was very satisfying in both the rooms that you booked.

I appreciate that the apartment can be warm due to the heating set up, however rest assured the windows do open fully and a member of staff would have been happy to show you. We will of course look into the bed in the apartment and are sorry for any inconvenience caused if the bed was not comfortable for you.

Kind regards,
Claudia

Although the hotel looks small and old from the outside, the location is just great, right on top of underground station. Central city location is clearly an advantage. Customer service was great and hotel staff were always available to help. Worth the money. Very suitable for travelers looking for great value hotels in London.

Dear Tariq,

Thanks for the feedback regarding the hotel appearing to look old. The actual building is Victorian as are the majority of buildings in London. The Borough has a long history and interesting old as well as modern architecture. The latest is the Shard (http://the-shard.com/the-view-from-the-shard).

We are always looking at ways to maintain and improve our property. Most recently we have built 4 new hotel rooms and have plans in place for improving our entrance with better signage and lighting.

Very pleased to have been able to offer you accommodation and please do come back to stay with us again.

Kind regards,
Claudia

I had a one-night stay in the London City Hotel and was positively surprised by the value for money - a nice room, clean, modern equipment, silent for the best part of the night. The location offers the whole range of pubs and dining places in walking distance, and the staff is friendly. For my next stay in London I will return to this hotel.
