“Very decent choice”
4 of 5 bubbles Reviewed 3 June 2014

We stayed for 4 nights in May 2014. The hotel is next to the underground but it is quiet. The rooms are quite small but you are in London after all, so taking into consideration the really expensive accommodation in London, London City Hotel is a good choice. It was clean and the staff was kind and helpful. The location is great, it is a 5-10 min walk to the Borough Market and 15 min to the Tate Gallery. There are cafes and pubs in the area and a supermarket very close.

Situated next to Borough Station, this hotel is in an excellent position for site seeing or spending time in London. It consists of rooms only, with no bar or restaurant, but it was exactly what I needed at a very good price for central London. My room was spacious, the bed huge, plenty of hot water in the shower room, and everything scrupulously clean. The welcome from reception was warm and professional.
Could not have asked for more - excellent all round.

Really fantastic room. Very clean and sharp in appearance. A new carpet had just been fitted in the room, so unfortunately the smell of glue was a little strong, I'm not sure it should have been used so soon. Great service though and friendly reception. The only other negative was that wi fi was a rented arrangement on an hourly basis. I have stayed in much cheaper rooms of the same standard with free wi fi and breakfast included in the price. A great place to stay overall though. Good location, room and service.

The hotel is located next to the Borough Tube station. I mean next door. Very convenient. We (my daughter and I) got a regular room with bathroom (there are also "premium" rooms and rooms with shared bathroom. Ours was quite small (especially the bed). The bathroom ok.It had tv, blowdryer, coffee maker. Room was clean and in good working conditions but not particularly attractive. No closet, only hangers and some drawers. The price was very good for London. Important to note that basically there is no regular lobby. Entrance through a small glass door leading into a flight of narrow stairs. Reception is a small office on the first floor. Rooms on the same (and above) floors along carpeted corridor. Clean but not what you call a charming hotel for a romantic getaway. Very efficient booking process (they called me to confirm arrival) and exceedingly nice, helpful and friendly staff at the reception. This is the most notable observation. It is true for every one we dealt with.

Room Tip: it depends on the budget, from premium to shared bathroom

We were absolutely delighted with room 13, clean, tons of space, huge shower and very comfortable. An ideal location. This hotel is brilliant and in easy walking distance of London Tower and Tower Bridge. Underground right next door to hotel if you want to go further. The Borough district is fascinating so much to see including The Shard.
Will definitely stay again.

The décor inside was shabby, perhaps, but the accommodation was clean and comfortable, and the staff were friendly and helpful. The top floor bathroom (I was in Room 14) should certainly have indication on the door , and/or guidance from staff. The Riva café provided two splendid breakfasts, the best thing about my stay.

Room Tip: Avoid front rooms, or take earplugs - St George the Martyr chimes loudly on the hour.

My check-in was quick and hassle free. I didn't stay in a basement room, but I'll try it out next time I'm here. This is a basic little place to get rest before more travels. The hotel is in a great location to go out and tour the city. Thanks!
