“a little quirk setup, but excellent room”
Reviewed 26 June 2014

on entry it's not a traditional hotel reception, in fact just an office up on the first floor, however staff are very friendly and informative. they showed me to my room.....at the back of the cafe downstairs, my initial thoughts were "what the****** " but to my surprise the room was spacious, modern, very clean with air con. good sized bathroom with rain type shower head and normal shower head.free view TV, tea coffee etc as standard.
Breakfast was available in the "Cafe Riva" via a voucher i had been given, great full breakfast served by friendly staff.
would stay again, hope all the rooms are similar to this one.

Dear Paul,

Thanks for your review. You are not the first person to be intrigued about the location of your room on our ground floor. The hotel and Cafe Riva are under the same family ownership and combining the hotel rooms on the ground floor alongside the cafe made sense. It means our guests get modern recently refurbished rooms right next to our cafe. No need need to travel far before you will be greeted by a waitress and your choice of fresh breakfast options.

I hope that you chose to stay with us again and you can always request your original room or try some of the rooms upstairs.

Kind regards,
Claudia

We stayed in this hotel on a Saturday night after a night out in the big smoke. We wanted something relatively close by for a reasonable price. Though this hotel still seems quite a lot of money, relatively speaking for London it's good value. The thing that struck me most was the lady who greeted us on arrival at reception, she could not have been more helpful! It really said a great tone for the stay. The hotel seems committed to customer service, sending a detailed directions email in advance and a thank you email after our stay. The room was clean and comfortable, and a fairly good size, though in central London it's far from spacious. It was warm but a fan was provided. The biscuits on the pillow were a nice touch! Thanks for an enjoyable stay. PS Be warned there's quite a lot of stairs - not suitable for people with proper mobility difficulties.

Dear Lucy,

Thank you for your review and pleased that we could offer you a place to rest your head after a night out in London.

Thank you for the extremely positive feedback on our Receptionist and for appreciating all the timely communication before and after your stay. It is also really good to hear that our biscuits were appreciated. They are a relatively new addition and hopefully go well with the selection from the Birchall Tea Company.

We hope to welcome you back to stay when next in London.

Kind regards,
Claudia

Such a welcome on arrival, help with checking in using computer, always cheerful and helpful staff - made our stay great and would go back again. Breakfast was good, with choice of poached, fried eggs if required. Great time, thank you

I accidentally booked a hostel nearby a week after I was supposed to arrive but was able to walk down the street and find this hotel. The room wasn't huge but a good comfortable size. It seemed pretty new and the bathroom was nice although the sink was a bit small. The bed was comfortable and the TV was good. It was pretty quiet even though the room was connected to a cafe that was only open till 4.

My husband and I stayed here for two nights, the staff were very friendly and welcoming, the room was small very clean, a comfortable bed, well equipped room, tea/ coffee making facilities portable fan, TV etc. the only thing that was a let down were the tiles in the shower were loose and needed re grouting but it was not a major problem.

Booked last minute for a stop over in London. Fairly small room but very clean and fresh. Staff very friendly. Centrally located only a few minutes walk to London bridge. I would definitely recommend for. No frills stopover.

I stay here a lot for business and I couldn't be happier. The staff are so friendly and helpful. The hotel is very very clean, and comfortable. There are brand new rooms, newly refurbished rooms, and new carpeting throughout. The towels are huge, and really fluffy. I loved them so much I bought the same for home!

Room Tip: The restaurant is the cafe below/next door which is very convenient and great food.
