So visited this hotel near Piccadilly Circus, as it had recently opened and part of the Firmdale Group. Having visited the Covent Garden Hotel, Charlotte St Hotel and Haymarket Hotels in this group, I had high expectations. They were exceeded. The bar area is large and airy and has a great feel about it, and also has a large outdoor area for drinks or dining. Phil was our barman and he was exceptional. He asked likes and dislikes and made cocktails accordingly and spent a couple of hours enjoying the experience.

I was reluctant to write this review as I don't want everyone to go there and I can't get a seat, but it is just to good not to share

I had been eagerly awaiting this new hotel as i am a big fan on the Firmdale group. This one has not disappointed. It has just been open a week so I visited for afternoon tea. i expected some teething problems but we were so impressed with the look of the hotel, the quality and price of the tea and the staff. Will definitely be visiting again. We booked for tea at 4.30 but got there early, asked if we could eat earlier, but if not, would be happy having a cocktail in the bar. I also asked if it might be possible to view the private bowling alley that I had heard about. Immediately, a most friendly staff member offered to show us around the hotel. he was really lovely and even took some photos of us. There was no snobbery of the staff at the Firmdale hotels as there are at so many smart hotels. Also gorgeous and classy, it had a modern, relaxed feel about it. After we had oo and aah'ed at the bowling alley, the very large 2-tiered private cinema, restaurant, library and lounge, we were seated in the drawing room which was a gorgeous place for afternoon tea to be served. When we got there, we were the only diners. Later, some others arrived but the area was spacious and private and we could not over hear other conversations. Our waitress explained the menu to us and was very knowlegable, especially considering the hotel has only just opened. We got the afternoon tea for £18 and paid an extra £2.50 each to have a choice of the rare teas. i thought this price for a tea in London very reasonable. We had our daughter with us. She opted for a chocolate chip and raspberry ripple ice cream sandwich which she loved (and was just £3) and when asked for a juice, we were told she could have any juice she wanted. The waitress was true to her word and Daisy asked for a mango and peach juice, which was delicious.
We advised our waitress that we didn't eat meat and this did not cause the chef any problems. The food was perfect in every way. We started with the sandwiches. Bread very fresh. The cheese & basil croque madame was devine and the pea quiche was perfect too. The scones were fresh and light, and there were 6 small ones, so our daughter had some too. Half were plain and half sultana. The cakes and pastries were really lovely. Chocolate battenburg, banana mousse, 2 macaroons, a secret macaroon with meringue, a chocolate cupcake and a couple of others. My only criticism was that I prefer not to have to share my sweets (it gets a bit messy) and there was only one of each of them.
Really recommend the Ham Yard. Will definitely visit for another meal and would love to stay a night for a special occasion.

Ok - this place is one week old! I've already revisited and will have a feeling about this place...it's going to be one of the hottest venues in town. Fantastic service that I've grown accustomed to (firmdale quality), beautiful surroundings and Phil the barman. Seriously - quality raising the bar stuff! Thanks
