Perhaps the best French food I've had in London. The Maître d is so welcoming and spends time with every customer. The food is reasonable but the wine can be expensive. But hey once or twice a year, who cares?

The steak tartare is awesome and made in front if you exactly to your liking.

As I said...AMAZING!

The thing with Brasserie St. Jacques is that it really is a French Brasserie, not the Anglicised version so often found in Britain. If you like that then you will love the authenticity of the cuisine, which is just as you could be served in a brasserie on many a fashionable street in Paris.
We dined there as three friends and were served by a friendly patron and a helpful and energetic waiter. Both were French and did everything we could reasonably have asked for with a smile, good manners and in good time.
We chose to sit at the back of the restaurant, which is the quieter and more secluded part. The front offers more in terms of view and ambience, but is noisier. The décor is pleasant, typical brasserie style with ochre walls and eclectic art on display. The ceilings are high, the tables well-spaced, chairs comfortable.
Our steaks and poussin were well cooked, the fois-gras delicious and the tart tatin a shared delight, with a special portion made for the three of us.
Prices were right up there, as you’d expect in St James’s, but the only thing I considered somewhat over-priced was the wine-list. Fair enough for the rare vintages, but even the basic wines were greatly marked-up. I consider this the only bad mark for an otherwise very enjoyable restaurant.
They are closed on Saturday and Sunday, so go there on a week-day for lunch or dinner and you’ll join many others who work in that area and, presumably, earn a good salary to pay for it. For me it will be an occasional visit, but I would definitely return.

I actually turned down a dinner invite to Sake No Hana the same evening and suggested we go to St Jac instead. BTW, SNH is a stellar establishment, but i wanted a more simple and down to earth meal without all that fuss. There is no pretense.

Matt (French) the waiter contributed to a fine dining moment. Yes the prices are high but room design, warmth, taste and wine selection won the day.

I will certainly visit St. Jac again.

have been here several times and its consistently good, the daily specials are spot on and fresh, Its a nice place to go into anytime before after dinner you are always welcomed for a glass and a plate. surprisingly busy over lunchtime but well deserved. The grouse a bit too pink for me and ofc as fiddly as ever! I had the venison which was much easier to take on.
