wonderful, elegant french restaurant in the heart of covent garden. A hidden charm set down a narrow street around the corner from drury lane. The food was well presented, delicious and reasonably priced. Either an a la carte menu or a set menu for around ten pounds with a good choice for each course. The wine varied in price from very reasonable to the more expensive end. The ambience and overall decor is subdued, romantic and family friendly. The staff were attentive, friendly and prompt. A good sized outdoor dining area to the front and as its down a side street there were minimal passers by hence no big london crowds passing whilst people are dining. Overall a lovely experience and well worth a visit.

All we needed was a nice little place close to the Fortune theatre in Covent garden before we
watched 'The woman in black' (very scary!). Hanover place is a tiny little side street that is easily over looked if you didn't know where it was, but never the less a charming location for this equally charming little French bistro style restaurant.

Make sure you book this one on-line if you are able as they often have special deals available such as 2 courses and half a bottle of house wine for £19.95 which we took advantage of. The menu selection of this deal was shorter than the average menu but still very good.Me and the Mrs shared a starter of beef carpaccio, then both had the haddock for main and shared a delicious creme brulee, we topped it off with a bottle of the house white so got all of that for £19.95 each. Upon being seated it did sound a little misleading that we were to get the whole bill for £19.95, however, after sampling the quality of the food we assumed this was not right.

The service was impeccable! so friendly and attentive, the atmosphere was also very attractive and relaxed.

Would recommend this place! Bon appetit!

Over all a very good choice for us, both in terms of location to the busy theatre district in Covent garden and also for the excellent quality of food and service. A word of warning for the cost conscious, if offered water, specify tap if you want it, they will give you bottled and charge you £3.50 for it! but this is typical of most London restaurants.

We visited at lunchtime during a weekend trip to London after my grand daughter finished her exams. She decided on the restaurant and paid the bill so I was really pleased that the food was so good. We had the £15.00, 3 course menu. One Gravalax, one Beetroot and Roquefort Salad. We both had Smoked Haddock topped with a fried Egg, then finished with one Chocolate Fondue and a Creme Brulee. All delicious and served by welcoming and friendly staff.

I have never eaten at the Cafe des Amis restaurant upstairs, but the wine bar downstairs provides a place of peace and calmness in the buzz of Covent Garden. You can order some typical bar snacks, the service is friendly. And it is open until midnight during the week.

Called into Cafe des Amis with my wife on a Sunday evening for Dinner.
The surroundings were pleasant and staff pleasant and attentive.
The food was nicely cooked and well presented and served the portions were however a little on the small side. (We had Rack of Lamb and Calves Liver and Spinach) complemented with a good bottle of wine.
For desert I had the Caramelised open Apple Tart which was truly super.

All in all a pleasant experience.
