Description: A stone’s throw away from Trafalgar Square, surrounded by some of London’s most notable museums, galleries and shopping, sits the curve-fronted Barrafina on the corner of Adelaide Street. The restaurant puts guests at the centre of the action, with wraparound windows and a sandy horseshoe-shaped marble counter winding its way through the dining room. The location has a spacious yet intimate, warmly lit private dining room with an open kitchen.

Very smart concept. We enter just to try nibbles and end up eating 20 types of food!
Since you are sitting around the bar you are able to see food prepared by the crew.
We have try almost all of it and we loved it.
20 courses for 4 people, 4 glasses of wine 243£ tips included
Must try, (few restaurants in London available)

Stumbled across this lively restaurant when needing to kill an hour before the theatre. Its a brightly lit place with tightly packed stool seating making the atmosphere very social. The menu has a mixture of regular tapas and unusual ones for the traditional palate. We only ordered a couple of plates but both were delicious and reasonably priced. The service was friendly but perhaps on the abrupt side but looking at the concept you can see why.Their aim is to serve customers quickly and efficiently as possible.By 17.30 the queues had started.Would we go back to Barrafina again. The answer is yes if we were looking for a quick lunch or evening appetizers with a good atmosphere.

Firstly we were told coats had to be hung on hook under counter where we ate - they dragged on the floor! Very slow service and we had to keep asking for the last - sardines - kept on asking and asking . At last two COLD sardines arrived! The chipirones were mostly batter and not fish - first time have been disappointed here but will still go back.

I had low expectations going in but came away delighted with the delicious tapas. Choice of wine Valenciso Reserva Rioja 2009 was very good and inexpensive. Casual setting. Only downside - Bar style seating only - uncomfortable.

Love this place! I went two days in a row and was awed by the excellent food and wonderful service. I went at the start of dinner service and didn’t have to wait; timing worked particularly well since I had theatre tickets. Another perk for arriving early is that all of the specials are available. If the lamb shank is one of the specials, order it and you will be wowed by the taste and tenderness.
