Daphne's may have lost a little bit of its sparkle from its heyday which is why I have not eaten there this side of the millenium, but, as we were shopping close by I thought we would pop in for lunch.
There was no problem seating us without a reservation although it makes me laugh that all restaurants seem to go through the pretence of making you "sweat" even though the place is half empty!
There is a pleasant ambience to the place and we were seated at the room in the back which is fine. The calves liver is delicious and my wife's halibut was good if not spectacular; for my 7 year old daughter they were happy just to rustle up a plate of penne pasta. With a carafe of wine, bottled water and a couple of desserts and coffee the bill including service was just under £150 which is probably par for the course in this area etc
if I can compare it to other Italian restaurants I like in London I would say the food is just a little below Latium but still an enjoyable experience etc
