The upstairs bar area was bright, had funky retro decoration and played good retro music. By comparison, the club area downstairs is dark, dingy and needs refurbishing - there were even holes in the ceiling. Doors open at 10, with people arriving from 11pm. By 12 the club area was heaving. People were knocking drinks over and stepping on each other to move around. Felt very claustrophobic, especially as they were still shoving more people in.
Had booked a table for 13 that was supposed to allow access to both the club and bar areas. Bar area was half empty at midnight, playing good music and two of our group decided to spend the evening there. However, when a third tried to join them, they were refused entry. Another couple from my party tried to enter bar later and again were refused. They found the club area, which was continuing to shove people in, unacceptably claustrophobic and threatening, with people crowding around the table in an intimidatory way, knocking things, so left. The remaining group in the club area had a meanacing group start to take over the reserved table. When they objected, they were told the bar staff said it was OK to take their table as they were not spending enough money!
As for the drinks prices, another reviewer has commented that gin tonic and long drinks cost 13 GBP. Single shots with mixer cost £12-13 and if your glass is less than half full bar staff clear it away without permission.
Would not go again and would not recommend.
A claustrophobic and expensive experience.
