My wife and I visited La Trompette last week for a valentines lunch after it was recommended by a friend.
We'd decided to try a Michelin Star lunch for the first time and the restaurant did not disappoint.
3 courses is set at £40, extremely reasonable considering the quality of the food. There is also quite a good variety available to choose from which isn't always common on a lunchtime menu.
We both had the Berkshire deer Ragout, I have had some very good starters in the past but this was top of the tree. Beautiful and rich the portion was a perfect size, I recommend anybody give it a try if they go.
For our mains I had the Shortrib & Croustillant of beef which again was incredible, there was an extra charge of £6.50 for the dish which was fine with me. My wife had the lamb and said it was one of the best lamb dishes she'd ever tasted. I'm not big on desserts so opted for something quite small in the Chocolate Pave, again an amazing piece of food that didn't disappoint. My wife chose the Banana soufflé which was huge!
The restaurant was full of rugby fans heading for a game in Twickenham so it was quite hectic but the staff were fantastic and had everything under control.
Always on hand with more water and little extras
It's not often I rate anything 5 star but this place is definitely worthy of it. Incredible food and at £100 for two of us with table service you'll probably struggle to find better value for money.
