This was our second visit to locanda locatelli, we visited for a special occasion and enjoyed a spectacular meal with great wine and cocktails! Fantastic service also. We only wish we lived closer to enjoy locanda locatelli more often.

When we arrived at 7.30pm from the outside there was no noise or signs of activity at all so we were unsure if it was open. However, when we went in we discovered the place was full, but there was hardly a sound. Just a very low murmur of conversation.

We were shown to our table which was squeezed between 2 other tables, which were far too close to each other, which meant you could hear all the conversations around you, even at such a low level.

The atmosphere, to be quite honest, was horrid. Everyone seemed too afraid to speak as it was so quiet and we were so close together.

The waiting staff made things worse by continuing with the conspiracy of silence. They hardly talked. In fact they only talked when they had to, and not once did they try to engage anyone in conversation.

The wine waiter was a bit of a buffoon, doing loads of slurping and juggling with our wine, which was just pretentious nonsense.

The food was good, but I've had better Italian in this country. But no matter how good the food, the atmosphere would have spoilt it. It is as though the Italians have tried to copy the service style from Paris 100 years ago. Having seen Locatelli on TV quite a few times we partially expected his personality to show through in his restaurant, but it doesn't at all. It is stilted and unpleasant. Which is a great pity.

We dined on a Monday evening and wanted to eat at 8.30pm but they insisted on 7.30pm. This has an impact as at the earlier time many of the diners our businessmen. Once they clear out after about 8.30pm you start to get normal diners in and the atmosphere improves a bit, but it's still not good.

A great menu, with lots of choices - all courses were fantastic. Staff were very friendly and knowledgeable.

Service excellent, very fast efficient and attentive.
Wines excellent.
Food was mostly very good, but my pasta dish did not have much flavour or taste for the price. I had linguine with lobster , but I was left disappointed as lacked flavour .Nothing special really for the price .
Location & ambience excellent.
Just a little disappointed as was so good last time

Sunday Family lunch.
As I mentioned in my other reviews we are Italian, from Naples which huge culinary tradition and experience.
It is not easy to please us :)
Locanda Locatelli was just a step away.
I was our second visit there. Started great with delicious choice of breads, kids were delighted.
Starters Smoked scamorza and Lobster& Hake Salad- both really good. Bresaola was not bad too, obviously you can't expect greatness from it.
Pasta with goat ragu was good, unfortunately not cooked al dente which spoiled its great sauce.
John Dory good, but nothing special to remember.
Service fast and polite, good choice of wines and other beverages.
Tables a bit close from each other, it would be good not to seat so close to other people, we felt like we were almost having lunch with couple next to us.
Considering lack of great Italian restaurants in London, LL is worth visiting, hopefully they can improve to be great!
