Description: Take a stroll down Monmouth Street, London and you'll discover a little piece of England that will remain forever French. Mon Plaisir, London's oldest French Restaurant, has been a purveyor of the finest French cuisine for over half a century. The entente cordial hits you as you enter, and the French atmosphere is as thick as the waiters French accents. You'll find yourself surround by wonderfully original French artefacts, you could find yourself leaning against the pewter topped bar which once graced the lounge of a Lyonnais brothel.

“Relaxed atmosphere, ideal to catch up with old friends”
Reviewed 7 October 2012

We met up with some friends in this french restaurant, had a fab meal with good quality wine, easy to find, friendly staff and just a nice easy place to enjoy good food, company and wine!!!

Highlight was us asking for the rankest/smelliest cheese on the board (we love soft french cheese and thats strong in flavour, no cheese has ever beaten us). This place got close to beating us on the cheese...just close, really recommend this place.

“A Great Evening”
Reviewed 2 October 2012

This was our first visit to Mon Plaisir and we were very pleasantly surprised. We were a party of 4 and it was a birthday party treat The ambiance in the full restaurant was relaxing and the friendly staff were attentive and efficient. We all enjoyed our choice of meals which were well presented and served hot .the wine list catered for all price brackets and the house wine was very enjoyable and not overpriced.
We shall certainly be returning very soon.
Thank you Mon Plaisir for a great evening.

“Excellent per theatre menu and VFM,”
Reviewed 16 September 2012

For a pre theatre meal this place is really good value for money and pleasingly good food . Attentive staff and resnsible prices for drinks. I've been for lunch too and again a good choice. French Anglais menu with some nice twists. A good bet!

“Great location and atmosphere, average food”
Reviewed 24 August 2012

Having walked down the rest of Monmouth Street, the atmosphere at Mon Plaisir seems to be the best. We visited here pre-theatre and I was a bit disappointed but the amount and choice and quality of food. If you did not fancy the two main course options on the pre-theatre menu then there was not much other choice- everything else on the main menu seemed to be entrees. I had steak from the pre-theatre menu which was fine but very small. The chips were very thinly cut and delicious. The service was fine but not exceptional.

“Great French food in the middle of London”
Reviewed 13 August 2012

Personally visiting Mon Plaisir for the first time we enjoyed the 3 course Lunch Menu (£15.95) We had a very tasty pate as the starter and my companions enjoyed the Lamb as the main course while I had Poached Salmon. The sauce with the Salmon was exquisit as was the the chocolate mousse desert. The meal was accompanied by a very enjoyable house white wine. So enjoyable that we had to have a second bottle. The meal was completed by an excellent cup of coffee with very efficient and pleasant service. There are several sections to this, London's oldest French Restaurant but we had a window table and watched the world go by. On the main menu were some of my favourite French cuisine so I definitely will be back.
