Description: Boho pub on the ground floor; beautiful period restaurant upstairs, The Peasant is one of London’s original and best gastropubs. The lovingly-restored former gin palace keeps followers faithful with an accomplished blend of cosy, mezze-serving, mosaic-floored bar leading to a lavish, high-ceilinged dining room filled with circus memorabilia and Victorian candelabras. An adventurous, frequently-changing menu promises such elegant excitement as roast halibut, chorizo, and piquillo peppers with lemon rice. And Denham Estate venison haunch on a creamy parsnip mash with sage butter. Wonderful, wonderful stuff.

I have reviewed the Peasant before and always try new places to see if their Sunday lunch compares but to date haven't found a Sunday lunch as good as at the Peasant!
The food is excellent and the chicken is always well cooked and not at all dry like a lot of places which I imagine is quite hard to do if you're cooking so many.
The staff are always friendly and accommodating and I think it's the best value Sunday lunch in London!

The upstairs restaurant was shut when we visited mid week so we ate from the bar menu. The meze was ok but nothing you couldn't buy from a supermarket and my chargrilled flank of beef was unfortunately covered in a brown sauce which disguised any flavour. The Mrs. Fish and mash were heavy on the batter. Generally not much of an atmosphere but other noisy patrons seemingly there for the alcohol. However recommended by a friend whose advice on food we accept so will try again away from the holiday season when the first floor is open and will report again

Nick, Rasa and all the staff at The Peasant made the event of our Son's surprise 30th Birthday lunch a great success. All the guests said how delicious the food was and how lovely the ambience of the room. Our Son had a wonderful surprise and a great time. Rasa helped myself, my husband and My daughter in law pull off the surprise and ensured that our family and friends were handed drinks upon arrival and whilst waiting for us to arrive. All in all we had a superb day, which was not entirely unexpected as our Son and daughter in law held their wedding reception there three years ago and it was an amazing day. Still the same high standard and thoroughly recommended.

Nick and the team did an amazing job of looking after us on our wedding. The food was fantastic, ALL OPTIONS and COURSES! Staff helpful and the venue perfect for our wedding. Everyone that came had a brilliant time and all our guests raved about the food but I specifically loved the chicken main and chorizo and squid salad. We had a band play and DJ Catfight was awesome too. The Peasant lived up to every review we'd read and every fun looking wedding we'd passed there. I can't recommend this place enough. They took care of all the setup and Nick has a calming effect, leaving you to enjoy your day. The atmosphere was relaxed and fun and if you have half the fun we had, you'll have a brilliant day. ps. We went there loads to eat in the lead up and always found the food and team wonderful.

Hats off to Nick and his merry staff at the Peasant for making our wedding reception so damned good. We booked in Februray 2017 for an August 2017 wedding. From the outset Nick provided us with information and advice that was invaulable to us and our guests to make a success of the day.

If you have a good plan, then you are not going to need to constant contact. In short, two visits, one phone call and about five e-mails (all the obvious stuff like the confirmation, food selction and seating plan and seating plan change). All sorted.

The venue has a restaurant and small bar upstairs, a proper pub downstairs and seating outside. We had a wedding party of fifty. The place felt neither crowded or empty in any part.

The crucial bits. On arrival, there was excellent service for glasses of Prosecco for guests, including refills, followed by sumptuious canapes.

The dinner. Service was excellent taking the orders and then providing the courses. The food was excellent.

The supper. Again service was good and grub was great.

All of our guests, including the fussy eaters, those with a dietary requirements and those who have made a choice of conscience all compliemented the food.

The staff magnificent from start to finish.

Collecting the post box, flowers, wedding cake and bunting (all nicely folded). Again hats off to the staff.

Like to point out the Peasant was dog friendly. One of our guests had a guide dog.

Hired the venue for the day. No regrets.
