“Cheap and fab”
Reviewed 7 July 2014

Ragam has been around on Cleeveland Street for nearly 30 years. The decor is tired and the entrance uninviting, but ignore all that. This food is fabulous, knocking sock off any of the south Indian restaurants on Drummond Street. Its cooked to order, fresh, fragrant and deeply spicy in the best way. They offer all the south Indian classics plus a range of other dishes. It is tiny, so definitely worth booking if you don't want to be disappointed.

“small, simple, splendid”
Reviewed 22 June 2014

This isn't a stereotypical Indian restaurant, it specialises in south indian cuisine and most of the menu was new on me. This small eatery is more like a café, each dish was simply presented but the food was stunning, a hidden gem.

“Wonderful South Indian food”
Reviewed 6 June 2014

The food here is fabulous. We've been coming to Ragam for 10 years bringing guests of all nationalities and can honestly say we've never been disappointed. Each dish is differently spiced and there is so much variety that even hardened carnivores find themselves choosing vegetarian dishes to try out something new. If you're not sure what to choose the friendly staff will advise. You can't go wrong with potato dosai, coconut rice, chickpea curry, ginger chicken, cauliflower and peas and a yoghurt based lassi to wash it all down. And make sure you get some tasty pickles. A review in a national newspaper was a bit sniffy about the decor. Let's just say it's unpretentious - like a favourite, slightly faded Aunty's front room - and the toilets aren't the most modern. But anyone who values good food above image will be blown away.

“Best South Indian food in London”
Reviewed 20 April 2014 via mobile

Don't be fooled by the, er, basic decor. This place is a gem. Order a Dosai pancake, and a coconut paratha. They are among the tastiest food I've ever had. Be a little adventurous and you will be well rewarded. Alternatively, even dishes that are normally really boring taste incredible here. We once ordered a korma when dining with a pesky "I don't like spicy food" friend, and it was divine. Go!

“Good value and unique dishes”
Reviewed 4 April 2014

We always try to go here on a night out, with some friends. Small compact single room - fits about 20 people. Best to book to get in, as I've never seen it less than full.
Great food, each dish I've tried is always unique - no generic 'orange-tika-like sauces' here ! About £20 per head for beer, shared starter, one main, veg, shared rice and shared bread dish. Good value for London - keep away from the Brick Lane restaurents.
