The restaurant celebrates the finest seasonal British seasonal produce and has gained a well eared reputation for having one of the capital's finest wine cellars. Imbibe Wine list of the year 2014 The Tate's wine cellar has long been famous for its extensive collection of fine wines, half bottles at exceptional prices. The cellar is curated by Hamish Anderson and he is delighted to make recommendations and decant wine prior to your arrival.

“Great that it is back - location, food fabulous”
Reviewed 28 February 2014

Although it has taken a very long time to be renovated and it is difficult to work out why it took so long, it is great to have this restaurant back in action.

The atmosphere is relaxed but civilised ...... mainly adult and not a place where kids would be welcome or a place they would enjoy.

The food - Sunday Lunch - was very good. The only issue was that if you choose to book at the end of lunch, a number of dishes may not be available.

The wine, food and atmosphere were great ......

The wine list has been reduced and it was disappointing that the English wines which were stocked in the past were no longer available.

Well worth a visit ......

“a very english restaurant with beautifully restored mural”
Reviewed 27 February 2014

We had Sunday lunch with friends there and though the restaurant wasn't very busy, it had a great atmosphere. The black leather banquettes and white table clothes make the amazing mural stands out perfectly and really makes for a impressive view. The menu is fairly limited but enough for everyone to find something pleasing. A 3 course meal costs around £ 35.- which is great value for money. Starters and mains were great though I lamb could have been warmer. We had some excellent wine (Pinot Noir) and service was adequate.

It's definitely worth going especially when combining it with a visit to the restored Tate so it makes for a great day out.

“Very good lunch”
Reviewed 21 February 2014

Lovely room, a little noisy but one would rather a buzzy atmosphere than a hushed quiet. Delicious apple smoked salmon to start with beautifilly delicate lemon sole for main. My companions equally impressed with their choices.

“Almost a work of art”
Reviewed 15 February 2014

Worth reserving a table when planning a visit to the sparkling renovated Tate Britain: well chosen menu, beautifully presented if small proportioned dishes, decent wines, all served by an eager staff in this elegant restaurant with an English ambience provided by the Rex Whistler 1920s mural.

“Good British Lunch”
Reviewed 14 February 2014

Good ingredients in an interesting seasonal menu. Perfect portion size for lunch. Wine pairing option. Efficient and friendly staff. The room is not large and some tables are a little cramped. It's impossible not to hear other diners and sound from the opposite side of the room reverberates. However, overall a good experience.
