the restaurant was closed for some time because the mural had to be renovated. and the mural is what makes the rex whistler unique. it's location in the tate britain doesn't hurt, either, especially at a nice corner of the building with a patio. the restaurant manages to be well lit by it's big windows and its crisp white linens and to be dark-wood cozy at the same time. i've always found the food very well-prepared even if it isn't haute cuisine. but that's not the point. it's an absolutely lovely place to sit, enjoy of good lunch, and soak in the unusual and comforting room. i try to go every time i'm in london. you should, too.
