Description: The Union Tavern is a classic Victorian styled pub where the emphasis isn't on food but great food, great drinks and memorable moments. The menu has a number of elements with a big focus on steaks, pub classics as well as A'la carte dining. Look out for the extremely popular 21 day matured steaks from Surrey Farm that come with a complimentary starter at lunchtime. We offer friendly and efficient service in a warm atmosphere with great food, real ales and an extensive wine list, families are welcome. Furthermore we have a private room equipped with a full bar which is ideal for work parties, birthdays and team meetings etc. Pop on down and we'll make it a visit worth remembering.

this pub is opposite the Crowne Plaza so can be quite busy at dinner time. get there before 7 and you can eat from a decent bargain menu, two course for about £13, or go a la carte.

good beer, nice old fashioned decor, good staff. overall a good place to eat and drink. i go here regulary for several years when in london

Pleasant little pub with no fuss. Staff friendly and helpful.

Menu was simple and maybe they could run daily specials to improve and keep customers coming back. We were staying close and ate there once and when we went back the menu hadn't changed so we moved to somewhere different. A daily specials board would have seen us stay there and eat again.

Fine old London corner-plot pub which has been rejuvenated by the introduction of a gastro kitchen into the lower bar.

Furnishings are on the knocked-about side, but nothing else is shabby here. Very appealing menu full of robust options that demand more than one visit. Very little, other than a few burger choices, that conforms to normal pub fare.

I really was spoilt for choice, and that was just within the constraints of an astonishingly low-priced 2-course set lunch menu. Started with a perfect thick-crusted, well- fried scotch egg which was indulgent man food at its optimum. Moved on next to roast lamb slices in a tasty jus supported by sweet potato mash and dauphinoise spuds. A much appreciated effort, and very generous for the price.

Would have to say that the Wandle Bitter that we were drinking at the time wasn't quite as good as the meal; rather lifeless and slightly warmer than it should have been.

Staff wise, the guys behind the bar were efficient without being overly matey, ditto the very informally dressed girl working the tables, and the two guys in the open kitchen were much focussed on the job at hand whilst also observing the reaction of the punters to their output.

All in all seemed a very professional operation, and I would be very pleased to return and give that a la carte menu a good seeing to.
