This place should be a listed building. As you walk in the door you are greeted by the most beautiful bar that looks and probably is original Victorian.
The food is superb and reasonably priced. I had scampi and chips and would certainly recommend it.
The beer although keg is lovely. They have bitter, pale ale and stout plus a few lagers.
If you're of the Fosters drinking ilk than go there for a change and try a decent beer.
Samuel Smith's doesn't use any chemical additives so you're unlikely to get a hangover.
A pint of Old Brewery Bitter was £2.80 and extremely drinkable.
On top of all that, for you literature fans, Sir Arthur Conan-Doyle lived there for 3 years.
See what pubs should be like, no music, no jukebox, no TV and no fruit machines, just a decent place to chat to people.

I drink here regularly and in other branches of this Sam Smith's chain in West Yorkshire's pubs & private clubs.
The beer's, wines, ciders and spirits are excellent given no chemical additives brewed on purely natural ingredients!!
The food I've always good and I've introduced work colleagues for lunch and mates on the before Football at Crystal Palace.
They have been knocked out by the quality of the food served here.
I would advise it as a pre-match stop off to avoid the crowds and unavoidable long waits for food in the Norwood/Selhurst/Thorton Heath areas next to Selhurst Park football ground.
Situated next to the platforms of Anerley Railway Station on the London Bridge-West Croydon Line BR & London Overground Lines - 1 stop from Norwood Junction,
Try it as a peaceful meeting place prior to football if you want a great pint and some pre-match grub!!!
This venue is Family Friendly, accessible with a chilled atmosphere in a PROPER pub setting.

Got there on a Saturday afternoon and was empty, but we gave it a try and was great! Really friendly staff, well decorated pub, good food and beer - and good price! Very child friendly. Definitely recommend!

Less than £3 a pint and a sunday roast for £8.50, always civilised, friendly staff, it's what a pub should be. Also very welcoming of children.

As a Sam Smith's fan, I took the opportunity when in London for the Pretenders to visit the only pub of his in the capital not yet visited.
Had a couple, and decided to have the roast. Gordon Bennett, what a mountain, I could not eat it all. There were 4 thick and I mean thick, slices of beef, 2 home made Yorkshires, mash, 2 roast taters, carrots, sliced beans and French beans. £7.95, fantastic value.
Get in quick, the Managers are moving to another London pub which they could not reveal, on 2nd May, who knows if the replacements will keep this up. There is also the usual Sam's menu. Plus the usual beers etc.
Friendly welcoming staff, friendly locals, worth a visit if in the area, dead easy from the tube, turn right out of station and right on main road, start walking and you can see the pub on your right.
O.B. bitter, my tipple, £2.70 a pint, which is dirt cheap for the metropolis.
Recommended, as with most of Sam's pubs.
